My car only seems to let me fill up 3/4 off a tank. Kinda sucks when on long journeys. The needle only goes upto 3/4 mark and it wont let me put anymore fuel in even when i wait.

sounds like your dials have been taken off and put back in the wrong position

some times air will get traped in the tank and filler pipe, when the nozzle clicks and no moor fuel will go in, wait for about 10 seconds to let the air escape then carry on filling.

what if someone put a smaller fuel tank in no wait that makes no sense, is the fuel sensor like a float, maybe it is stuck at a certain position?

I might just pick a new tank and dials up then. I dont think the dials have ever been taken out. It aint trapped air because i have spent 5mins waiting after the click

Thats right, i had an 03 plate mondeo and it would only quarter fill, took it to main dealer and they told me that it was air n the system.

Waited till i used abit of fuel, took it to fill up, waited for the click (presumably full), left it about 30 secs, started filling again and put another tenner or so in.

Not sure how you go about bleeding the fuel system though, i just lived with it and just did the same everytime and got used to it, you'll be surporised how many other drivers have the same problem cus when you're waiting that 30 secs you tend you look around and your bound to see someone else doing the same thing lol.

It aint trapped air because i have spent 5mins waiting after the click ok you do that, but my vtr does it my transit pick up does it , the filler neck is very narow and dont let much air passed the nozzle when filling at full speed, if your chucking fuel in your tank and air cant escape to compansate the input of fuel you will get an air pocket, its not rocket science
