Its sony. They are known for having laser issues with all there products.

I was talking to robb about my old school PS1.

Think i got it on preorder, and the laser broke, i had to turn it upside down so the laser would drop a few mm to read the disc. Best mate at the time had the exact same people lol

haha actually i think i remember tippin my ps1 for some reason could have been to try get the little bearing things that sat in the bit that span the disc after it snapped to bits an they fell into the console :S

fact of the matter is... in modern society with the complexity of the technology in hardware the first buyers are actually unwittingly the BETA Testers (except they pay for the unprivilege)...

You'll find the later versions of the console will be much more reliable, just like the xbox and the xbox 360 and the ps2

There's no irony really your bound to get a few break over the months/years but microsoft actually admited there was a problem and never bothered to fix it even Elites were getting the ring of death!

I prefer the PS3 for the simple reason mine still works.

Unlike my 360 which freezes when you play on it for more than 5 mins and Microsoft want to charge me 60 odd quid to fix it they can stick that.

Plus I much prefer the dual shock controller.
