Had a lil bump in the car!! (1st car on car incident lol)
Was out quite late last night, dropping my mate off and only about 5 mins from home, went round a little round about and there are speed bumps immediately after the turning... So I slowed right down to get over it (was pretty big bump)
Anyways, My mate was following in the car behind and she went straight into the back of me!!
Got out had a look and her car is worst off.. she has a 206 and cant get the bonnet up, grille is smashed and bonnet has bent in.
My cars a lil better off, has only pushed the back bumper in and has moved all the inner arch liners so they catch the wheel . So anyways Im now at work.. tierd an trying to get an appointment with the docs.. but there shite :(
Now also as she is my best mate im not going to claim for obvious reasons.. so anyone has a MANGO rear bumper give me a shout please lol!
Will get pic.. not that you can see a lot tbh just annoying!!:wall:

Wish hadnt come work today though lol

You sure it's JUST the bumper? You need to check the metal behind the bumper, if thats all fine then your sweet. :y:

check your boot floor etc
Jules
4th April 2008, 09:27
If the splash guards are pushed in then it sounds like the bumper mountings have moved.
Why dont you take it along to an accident repair centre for a free quote, then you'll know for sure??
If her car is that bad then i'm sure there will be more damage to yours than meets the eye.
Hope you get it sorted,

I had a similar sounding bump in my vtr it appeared to just push the bumper in and crack the lining but it did infact move the boot panel slighty in and slightly creased the rear quater
Good luck with repairs

If it more than you thought you'll prob have to claim her! I know its not what you want to do to her, but you have to think about what it might cost you!
Its a hard one, Its happend to me before too!
My hubby parked my saxo behind his landrover but forgot to put the handbrake on and it rolled underneath the jeep scraping all the bonnet - so i can sympathise!!!

Love it.
When i had a crash and had a mate in my car, he had to take time off work for a leg injury.. He could of easily made a claim against me, but he decided not to as hes a good mate.. All my other friends said if they was in the car they would of claimed :n:. And my friend that didn't claim was in debt at the time.
Been one of my best friends ever since.

Ouch, doesnt sound good. I hit an escort in my first car, no damage on the outside, but when i saw the boot inside, it was pushed right back, so yeah check the boot if i was you, the panels bend so easy.

Unlucky Amiee I hope you get it fixed soon
My advice would be claim whiplash then share the money with you mate so both of you can fix your cars (I don't think her insurance will go up but I could be wrong)

For very minor accidents then not going through insurance may be a good idea, but usually with the way modern cars seem to be put together there is often a lot of hidden damage. Get a quote for both cars and make sure you tell them its not going through insurance (you get a better rate usually) then weigh up the difference between that cost and her excess/insurance increase)
Insurance is there for a reason so you might as well use it if the difference is negligible.

If shes paying for your repairs as it was her fault then i wouldnt take it any further tbh...
Are you feeling ok or was the doctor's just as a precaution Aimee?
Hope it gets sorted soon and there isnt any hidden damage etc. :)

Right, well I left work at 12.30 really wasnt feeling well and the neck was hurting.. (everyone says it but it was, as iv had neck injuries before I wanted to be on the safe side) I dont have wiplash but I have pulled all muscles going down my neck and have been told to rest but nothing they can really do.
As for the car... Its not all okay :( Checked the boot as you guys said.. and It opened... but wouldnt shut :( you can see where the metal has strained and come apart at the "welding seams" and im now going to ring the ADR centres about here.. Need to talk to mate when she gets in to see what she says...

At the end of the day it will be her insurance that pays so dont worry too much.
Get both cars accessed and then she can weigh up the costs and work out what she wants to do. Just dont make a decision until everything is concidered. theres no dramatic rush to need to tell an insurance company about the accident, but just in case it does go down this route write down all the details of the accident. Date, time, location, witnesses, photgraph, damage before you forget :D

Sorry to hear that Amiee hope your ok sounds a alot like what happened to me only both cars wernt worth fixing, as for not claiming i wish i did now obviously i had to claim for my car but as for whiplash i didnt but go for it, it wont affect her premium anymore, I had a phonecall a few month after the accident and after id accepted a settlement cheque for personal injury for £750 they said id be looking to claim around £2200 but then they read further down the notes and saw that is accepted the settlement cheque which meant i couldnt claim anymore, Gutted thats all i can say

Right I am stuck what to do now guys...
We took cars to be assessed by the Accident Repair Place and they averages the cost between £500-£1000 for Nikkis depending on what option she chosed to go for and about £120-£150 for mine to be repaired..
Now thinking about it her excess is £500 anyways... so she said she wouldnt know if she wanted to go down insurance route.. However she expects me to pay for my own repairs when clearly wasnt my fault..
I Dont want to be bitter about it.. but why should I pay for what she has done in terms of my car.. Shes also said "well you can barely tell theres anything up with your car so why bother with it.." and stuff like "yours can wait".
Now Im thinking I should tell her I want to go through insurance as even though mine wont be a lot to repair it would still be £150ish I dont really have money to spend when I need a new exhaust too..
What does everyone think I should do..
Dont want her to fall out with me.. and at the end of the day she hasnt got any ncbs... she is fully comp and she would be paying 500ish for hers no matter what?
Thanks

take her through the insurance, ring yours up and give them her details etc
why should your car wait? its her fault. ask for the money and if she says no or what ever tell her youll be informing your insurers
also is it wise to post all this up on here?

She took her car in today... Said she will book mine in after hers comes back, and I can use her car to get to work (as I work other side of town would mean id have to get a tram and a bus or 2 buses to work)
Not going through the insurances.. because she doesnt want to and she is also paying or repairs to the car.

Medieval on her ass lmao. Rep'd for that :y:
Mate went into the back of me about a month ago, same kind of thing as yours, didn't look much damage on the outside... just a slight dent to the bumper, panel + tailgate - looked like it would be around £300 to replace it all. Looked inside and boot floor was creased to shit, and some rips knocking about here n there. And he only hit me at about 10/15mph.
Cheapest quote i got to repair it was £1400 - ended up going through his insurance, and their repair shop quoted repairs at £2600... so it was a write off. And as for his car, well, worse off than mine, think his sub-frame had bent on the passenger side. We were a bit pissy at each other for a week, but we're all good now. :D
Sounds like she's being a bit of a tard about it, but she has nobody to blame but herself - if she gets a bit pissy at you, a kick to the shins will sort her out. All the best getting everything sorted mate :y:
