I was just wondering What the rough cost of insurance would be for a first time driver..?!?!I say rough Because I really don't know where to start...lol
....Probably a VTR/VTS 1.6 or something like that...
Any Feedback/Comments (from people who have been in the same position) Appreciated!:P

as you probably no it matters on everything, area, car, engine size, any mods etcetc. Im 17 aswell and im still looking around for a quote. It is really hard though becuase you dont know what insurance companies are going to boost up the price when you pass. I got a really good quote on a vtr (quinn), but im quite sure its going to be more than doubled when i pass my test. BTW its VERY unlikely anyone will insure on a vts until your 21 so its best to stick with the vtr (i myself been quoted by LOADS of different companies ranging from 1400 to 8grand! If insurance everywhere is just too much will have to get a furio unfortunatly:n:

17, no experience and no NCB.. if you manage to find a company to insure you on a VTS it will probably be a good £3000 lol. I may be wrong, tried to get quoted on quinn insurance for a VTS (18, 1 years ncb) and they denied me :p
VTR would be pretty nasty at a guess as well... maybe around £2000+ for that.
I started with a 1.1 forte for first car, tpft on it was £1300, then 2nd year with 1years ncb it went down to £850. Now im up to £970 with a 1.4
Best insurance for starting drivers is probably Quinn/Ecar, imo. Also if your still learning Quinn do half discount for learners until you pass i think. So if it was £1400, it would be around £700 until you pass.

mine was 1400 whilst learnin , so more like 3000 when i pass
forget the VTS and VTR idea, get a westcoast or a furio as at 18 insurance will be very hefty

Insurance is rubbish lol, im 20 with 3 years NCB and 3 points, and my premium is £1200 fully comp on a vts. Was paying roughly the same on my vtr last year when i was 19, with mods. Good luck on finding cheap insurance :y:

set your sights a little lower no need for a vtr/s get a furio etc or maybe a 1.1 depending on your budget. its only your first car why pay thousands out for something your probably only crash in a few months, get a cheap car an build up some ncb then get a vtr/s

start with hitting the comparison websites to get a rough idea..ure quote will always be lower when your a learner so try them with a full licence. the only way youl really know is by ringing up loadssssss of places once youve passed. if you want a vtr or vts though your not gonna get much change from £2000.depends how much you want the car though at the end of the day.

you are probabily best sticking to a furio or something like that for a year or so just for the simple fact that if you crash you dont reck a vtr!lol and it will get you more experienced!!

i was insured on a Saxo VTR at 17 for £1640. Just shop around.
That was third party fire and theft. Id get a cheap vtr for 1.5k-2k max if i was you. If your going TPFT anyway as alot of young drivers write off there first car whether its there fault or not.

I'm not totally desperate for a VTR/S But would just enjoy one rather than a 1.1 that's all!Better just shopping around for quotes and if the Insurance looks too hefty I'll just get a Furio or something else....:(How many people here have crashed their first car...Everyone?

Cheers M8...Btw What does Fully Comp Mean...(Probably Really Obvious lol)??!
JC-Furio
13th April 2008, 19:58
Fully comp basically means the insurance will pay for the damage of your car (presuming it's your fault) and you'll just pay the £250 excess or whatever it is.
If it's TPFT and you hit someone, you pay for all your own repairs yourself...
