ummm probably better to get it rolling roaded mate. how did you arrive at the 115bhp mark? from what people or companies have told you?

smileys/smiley3.gif well good. nice find dave smileys/smiley20.gif

if anybody has had one of these before, do they work and how accurate?

current bidding starts at £10. wonder what the reserve is. i take it that it WOULD work on other makes and model of car and not just honda's!?!

you could start your own business smileys/smiley20.gif

there seems to be a lot of these on ebay at the mo, usually around the £40 mark, think they work on any car, not sure how they work tho, or if they are any gd!

yep they will work in any car as long as it as 1. a windscreen 2. a fag lighter socket smileys/smiley2.gif

when i get around to using mine ill let u know the times but... just dont seem to be able to get the time to do it and have good weather at the same timesmileys/smiley7.gif

DevilDamo

apparently, you have to know the EXACT weight of the car too!?!

yeah but dont forget to weigh the spare wheel and knock it off the total weight of the car.... cuz u will be leaving that back at home smileys/smiley2.gif

With that sort of BHP (assuming it is right) you will be looking at pretty much the same as a VTS i would have thought?

Never ever will it be as fast as a VTS, not with less than 130 bhp.

A VTR is slower because of a lot of things, not only the power. For example: a vts can do way more revs and has a shorter gearbox.

I have about the same mods: Supersprint manifold, Magnex decat, custom mid section, Magnex backbox, enclosed induction kit and mine is 110 bhp on a rolling road. My car is a 90 bhp version that was 97 bhp as standard. It's stripped etc and no way it's even close to a VTS (yet... wait for the turbo! smileys/smiley4.gif).
If you fit a good (=enlosed, none of that open airfilter shite) filter and an aftermarket exhaust to a vts, you'll already have 130 -140 bhp.

Dropping in a VTS engine will cost you way less than trying to make a VTR as fast as a VTS.

If you're very lucky your 0-60 will be down to 9 secs, but don't count on it.

ca,e up with 115bhp coz its 98bhp as standard, manifold+sport cat cituning said was 10+bhp,thats 108bhp and you mast get at least 7bhp from k+n and full exhaust system.i no it dont always work like that but just a ruff estimate. smileys/smiley4.gif

Frevo

Sadly it doesn't work that way.

- you don't know for sure if your car had 98 bhp to start with
- you're talking about claims from Cituning etc
- just adding numbers doesn't work
- etc.
- K&N is going to loose you power because of sucking in hot air, even with ducting. And don't say "on the rolling road they add power" because they're tested with the bonnet open... and how often do you drive with your bonnet open?

I know someone with an 98 bhp Saxo with Cituning manifold+ sport cat + K&N and full exhaust system that got 105 bhp on the rolling road.... It's different from car to car.

yeah i agree there fred, i read an article in a magazine where this guy had a 2001 standard vtr took it on a rolling road and it came off with 107 bhp i think thats 7 bhp more than it should be.

To be honest i think some people instantly think an air filter, exhuast, manifold etc will add BHP.
The fact that its 'not standard' may make their car feel more superior but in fact isnt.
I guess its like wishful thinking, lol.
For example at college a girl was saying "my car is well rapid, its a 1.4 16 valve with an induction kit"
I had a K&N on my VTR, did even bother with the cold air feed, didnt really notice any gains or loses while driving.

Just a quick question, whats the difference between a wrapped manifold and standard?

SaxoAL
27th April 2005, 00:50
wrapped keeps the gases in, therefore providing a better flow of exhaust gases.

Oh ok, so not all uprated manifolds come with this?

Dan
27th April 2005, 01:11
no mine didnt. i need mine rolling roaded. want to know what power it has with a vts conversion with full s/s scorpion system with de-cat, 4-2-1 supersprint manifold and piperx viper. what you all think?

SaxoAL
27th April 2005, 01:14
nope. Can get the manifold wrap from GMC (http://www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk/)

tbh your not going to get huge gains from exhausts filters manifolds etc yes its true you can get a more responsive car but even if you fork out the money for the bits and bobs your not going to gain any "real" bhp engine tuning costs!simple so if you can except that doing these mods will give you a more responsive drive and not expect road going monster then you won't be to dissipointed when you only see a 2-3% increase.

cheers for ya input guys.hopefully getting a dastek uni-chip soon so will get it on the rollers and let you no. smileys/smiley4.gif

I have a VTR 98bhp type it has enclosed green ind kit, powerflow exhaust (shoddy) btb manifold (wrapped) 285 piper cam. port polish head, remapped, vernier pulley. Not sure on power. I thinks its about 135bhp or there abouts. although it will out run a VTS easily (ish). I do regret not buying a vts lump and shoving that in instead and modding that

darrensvtr
27th April 2005, 04:02
yeah wish id gone for a vts now but insurance is too high.wana get cam,and head work in mine.been told by local tunning company i no (frankinstien motorsport) that theyd stick a turbo in for £3,500.b lush. smileys/smiley4.gif
