Firstly before you bite my head off i have searched but want a definate answer for my query.
I'm coming up for new discs and pads all round on my mk2 03 plate VTR.
I don't want to get a 266mm or 283mm conversion.
Want some better brakes from the 247mm standard setup.
i know the rear discs and pads are fine with the standard setup.
however i want something better for the front.
Now the brake pad guide suggests standard discs with ferodo DS2500 or mintex M1144 pads (can someone confirm that)
would this be a good setup or shall i look at drilled and grooved discs?
if so, any recommendations?
Cheers in advance (reps available)

Cheers mate.
What do you think to the standard discs with just uprated pads? (mintex, ferodo)

you'll increase your braking dude but quite as much as say upgrading the disks at the same time...
you've got to check the friction co-efficient rating vs surface temp... its all good if you get really high friction ratings but its pretty useless if its at 1000C is it? lol

Now you have confused me now lol.
Think i'm going to go with standard discs with ferodo DS2500 or mintex M1144.
which is the better/ most recommended of the two and also will they have a suitable friction vs surface temp rating.
Lol, thanks again mate, i see what your getting at but how can you find out both the friction and temp?

Basically dude...for the money its not worth paying for huge stopping power on a Forte.
Save your dollar and uprate the pads to some good Ferodo or Mintex pad's as Sayer listed in that guide :)

I have a VTR lol - hence my user name is VTR_Craig not forte_craig.
Don't know if that was a misunderstanding or you were using a forte as an example of a car that doesn't have much power.
Think i'm going to go with the ferodo pads up front and the rest standard.
see how i get on with them
thanks for the help guys.

I bought some 266mm brakes last night mate. The ones that AlexR was selling, with Ferodo Pads... Just need some discs to go with them.
But at the moment, just on standard ones. I drove a mates ZS the other night too [a little different but hey ho]; and he just has mintex pads and they felt amazing compared to mine...
