About ten BMW 5 series turbo derv estates, two Skoda VRS dervs, bloody rapid. The guys that drive em are also armed with submachine guns which makes arguing back seem like such a bad idea. Theres also a few AMG estates now. And a scoob

Oh and a Honda NSX, but they can actually put people in the back so they just drive it around and scare people lol

Undercover- one scooby, hardly ever seen anymore.
- Bright Red mondeo, usually with handheld speed camera.
- When I was 15 I saw a Mr2 with flashing lights on the dash-it may have been someone messing around though with a fake siren etc. Sped off around a corner quickly as the two blokes were screaming through a radio.

Marked up- Saw just yesterday pulling out of the train station a mercedes 4x4 just like hanuman.
- just the usual really.

We have a few black focus, an old omega V6 with blacked out windows, hunkered down on some BIG wheels!!!
But the most of them are silver BMW M5's, the silver ones are the easiest to spot, when there behind you, you can see the lights behind the grille usually depending on which car it is!!

Chris :)

Quite a few are telling Porky Pies, Warwickshire are widely reknowned as having one of the strongest fleet of traffic vehicles across the country.

On occasion other forces have paid them overtime to do work on jobs in other regions: Eg the OffRoad bikes have travelled about a bit to tackle problem areas in other forces.

West Mercia for example are stuck with Diesel Astras and bog standard Focus's for their traffic cars.

One of the main reasons for having such powerful cars within our region as there was a spate of car jackings and continues to be from people coming over from West Midlands (borders Warwickshire) who have a 'No Persuit' Policy under normal circumstances, and jacking Impreza's, Cupras etc etc then blasting back over to West Mids where the persuit is stopped.

Things have now changed and with the far Advanced driving courses etc and the cars which we have now theres rarely anything which slips by

There is rarely ANY police car which is over 3 years old. Due to the stresses and strains put upon the vehicles after 3 years old theres so much that goes wrong and of course needing an MOT its more cost effective to get rid of the cars and get a fresh bunch in.

Baring in mind many of the cars are travelling about constantly all day, every day the milage racks up extremely quick aswel.

They may have been given a Lambo to trial, which is given to the Police from certain manufacturors kitted up free of charge (small cost to a company like Lambo and of course gets them plenty of free advertising from being covered in magazines and newspapers), but something like a Lambo in london as you rightly say wouldnt have seen out the trial period.

New shape Octavia vRS a few unmarked versions near by, and I'm sure they've been chipped. Seen some on the motorway and they were easily as quick as T5 Volvos, flipping flewww. (Police motorway base nearby, probs testing out their new toys).

Also I've seen local coppers in a Mitsubishi Evo 8, so the criminals have absolutely no chance lol.

A Lambo police car in London??- the most stupid idea ever. Wouldn't catch a granny on a moped let alone crooks. Slight speedhump- oh there goes my bumper.

500BHP Cossies? GTF. 90% of this is bollocks

I used to go to a lot of police auctions. The cars ary a bit from force to force, most get auctioned at about 3-4 years, though I've seen plenty of 5 year old Volvos and Omegas going through, all the Met's BMWs seemed to be just over 4 years old when they went through. CID/undercover stuff was generally dull, again, Omega central but a few 3 series BMWs, all around 5 years old, which was suprising.

Some forces do seem to keep suff forever and a day. A Pug 405 on an E plate was still owned by the police on the isle of man i think until about a year ago. That was very low millage though

Two big Merc Estates (Marked)
Two Unmarked Merc Estates (Silver and white!)
3 Unmarked Volvos (Black)
Two Volvo Estates (Marked)
An old Landrover Defnder LWB (Marked)
A BMW X5 (Marked)

Tons of Ford Focus Estaes (All Marked)
Vaxhall Astra Hatchback's (All Marked)
And over in East Sussex a Marked Lotus Elise, which is part of the fleet and NOT a publicity stunt, they use it to approach Boy/ Girl Racers as when the Racers see a Lotus Cop Car the all go over an gawp at it.

Money wrongly spent tbh those police lambos. Think of how many T5 Volvo persuit cars they could have got instead. Much more effective and plus you can actually fit some criminals in those without waiting for backup and having all the road-users drooling on your car while you do so...

Have to agree with Chriss tbh some of this seems balls, the scoob I saw was on the road heading towards Rugby way from Northants.

The most common one is the mondeo-thats hardly special though is it...

I don't think they'd waste as much money on stupid cars that will cost a bomb in petrol. Their vectras are hardly slow now are they...

I could put some blue flashy lights behind the grille of my Astra turbo, whack some Kent County Constabulary stickers on the side..... doesn't mean that my car would then be a proper police car..... what would be the point in having a 2 seater police car??

Police got their hands on a 140mph supercar this week - but will not be allowed to take it over the speed limit or use it to chase criminals.

The £35,000 Lotus Elise - complete with Sussex Police livery - was roadtested by officers in Hastings, but the driver was told 'you can't use it to chase crooks'.

Instead, the flash motor is being used to educate boy racers about the dangers of driving too fast.

A police spokesman said: "It is not an operational police car, and is unable to get involved in high speed chases.

"Its role is purely educational."

Sergeant Paul Masterson said: "The idea is that drivers will come to us and have a chat.

"We generally turn up at events where youngsters hang out. With this vehicle they actually come over and want to talk to us.

"Then we introduce the road safety message."

David Henderson, 34, of Hastings, said he thought it was daft having such a speedy motor that you couldn't take above the speed limit.

He said: "What's the point of having a car that can do 140mph and having to drive it at 30mph?

"It sounds daft to me. And I can't see boy racers being educated by looking at a fast car. All it will do is make them want to drive even faster. "

But thing is I know that they can use it for High Speed Pursuits.
I only know this because when I worked the Night Shifts at the Petrol Station near where I used to live, the Police would come up at any time during the night and get Deisel, food and Coffe. I was told by one of the Officers I knew Personally that the Lotus HAD been used for chases, and that they were allowed to use it for that role if they had to.

I know London Police have a few Audi A8 3.2L V6's in there Drugs prevention department Unmarked, in Jet Black with Black Alloys and Rear Tints.

Saw one of them mount the kerb then 2x 6ft+ stacked bald dudes jump out and took this "dealer" down to the floor on the highstreet of holloway once. Then within 30seconds a Volvo estate was on the scene and the dude was bundled into the car and this A8 tore off down the road.

these aren't going to be used by the metropolitan police. I remember reading that they were for the police convention only and after the reflective stickers would be removed and cars given back to lamborghini london showroom.

I saw the grey lp640 in the dealer when i was walking by (same number plate'ye vil')

YAWN!!!!

As proved earlier in the thread, the Lotus Exige/Elise would not be used as active cars... they are there as a promotional stunt.... they are there to get youngsters to take note and maybe go speak to the Police Officers who will then speak to them about speeding etc.

Chris :)
