Anyone at the age of 18 got 2 cars?

Basically a friend of a friend is selling her vtr...

Poisidon Blue Saxo VTR
S (or T, cant remember) reg
64k Mileage
Full Service history
Woman owner
Lowered 50mm
All standard apart from suspension
Selling because she needs bigger car (children)

Now from having heard all this i was expecting her to say around £2200+, but she said she wants £1800 for it. I could probably get her down to 1600 or less tbh. Do you think this is cheap?

Now i was thinking, i could keep it on the road (its taxed and mot'd not sure how long for though). I could use it as a second car, as at the minute im stuck on what look to go for my car. I like the idea of GTI interior and subtle, but im going down the rally/track car appearance atm (buckets, stripped).

Or i could buy it and simply sell it on for abit of profit, how much do you think i would get for it? I was thinking about £2200+ tbh. Whats your thoughts?

Also insurance, if i decided to keep it as a second car, i'd have to insured it.. :n: That will be a bitch. Insurance for my VTR atm is £3,600 (high risk area, got vtr when i was 17). When i get 1 years ncb it should drop to a realistic figure 2000-.

So just to summarise, my options are

1. Buy it, sell it for profit (how much though?)
2. Buy it, keep for a 2nd car (but insurance.. :S)
3. Dont buy it.

Post your thoughts. :err:

Dont buy it tbh 1600 is still not that cheap for a vtr

lowish milage but its old. S/T reg cars can often go for under a grand.

Option 3. Even if you buy it to sell it on, you should still insure it. You'll obviously have to keep it off-road (with no insurance); what happens if it gets stolen? If it isn't insured, that means no test drives..how many people would buy a car without a test drive?

Additionally, seems quite pricey...

Good points.

Thanks guys, think i'll leave it.

Was just a bit tempted when i heard about it.

Johnny, good point about insurance.. I do live in quite a high risk area.

Cheers guys, option 3 seems the best.

are you mad.. you wont make profit on that not even if its T reg. you could pick that spec car up r-t reg for £1000-1700 easily

saxos are the hardest thing to sell for profit as theres so many about so when you come to sell even if you bought it for what YOU though was cheap, you may be waiting AGGGGGES for someone else to rekon its cheapER than the other 10000 for sale

I made £1500 profit (well, £1460something after e-bay took it's share) from selling mine.

p.s you need to get used to car valuations as you are REALLLLLLLLY out and if it wasnt for saxp youd have bought it and been stuck with it then sold it for less....

Thats not cheap and you'll probably make a loss tbh

I only paid £700 for my VTR, T-Reg 74k on the clock and FSH

Spend the money on your current VTR rather than buy another one..
