As most of you may know I have a Silver VTR.

If you saw what I was cleaning it with every week I'm sure your cocks would jump up inside you.

Now....

I'd like a list of the basic stuff I'd need too start putting a nice collection together......Shampoo's, cloths/towels, APC, trim gear, tyre gear etc.

Now I can go too Craig for stuff like correctional work and Zy**l, I'd jus like a quality week2week cleaning kit for a silver car.

Links and any discount secrets would be great ;-)

Expect lashings of rep.

Muchos Gracias.

what have you got? what would you spend? order offline?

Washmitt or sponge
Drying Towel
2 X Buckets
Wheel brushes
Aplicator Pads
Microfibres
a super spray

as for polishes etc etc

a shampoo - what ever tickles your fancy,
a polish - try poorboys polish with sealant (ill post my pic of my car with it on later, i was v impressed)
a wax - again its down to your own tastes (dodo or zymol maybe?)
window polish/ cleaner - autoglym?
trim and plastic restorer - chemical guys, autoglym, baby oil? (what ever you prefer)
metal polish for exhaust - autiosol, megs etc
alloy wheel cleaner - autoglym, chem guys, poorboys etc (again what ever you prefer)
tyre shine - megs, chems etc (same as above)

thats what i would call a 'basic' kit that everyone should have

you could be really anal and look at sealants, wheel wax, wheel polish etc but they aren't needed for a normal average car owner (non cleaning whore)

iirc silver Saxo's dont really come up as well as other colours anyway tbh.

But what Jay has given you is a perfect list of things you need, most the stuff you will build up a collection of over time. I dont think there is anything else anyone could put onto that list tbh.

Cheers jay.

Anyone else?

Jay's covered eveything you need for a 'basic non-whore' kit basically dude :P

Id get a lot more MF towels and cloths plus some sealant and a decent wax to add to the kit and maybe some All Purpose Cleaner as APC is great for almost everything. Just mix it to a different concentration for the purpose :)

As stated, the sealant in my eyes is a step not to be missed. :y: If your wanting to enhance the looks of the car, the key is in the preperation of the paintwork i.e. Polishing and Sealing :y: As in most cases the wax adds very little to the looks of your car, just protection. That is until you break the £35ish barrier on a pot of wax, then you get subtle add ons such as slightly glossier or a wet finish.

I have only used CG Wet Mirror Shine on silver cars, but even just that has brought up a good shine on its own (missing out the polishing stage) :y:

But I would highly recomend the Clearkote range as they have given superb results when I have used it.

Also, the statement about the APC is true. You can never have too much and it can solve all sorts of problems, from wheels to engine bays, dirty marks on plastics to your floor mats :y: It can be picked up dirt cheap as well, Tesco do one 'daisy' for like 87p :y:

id go paint cleaner then a sealant or wax, not both. my opinoin ;)

as said your clearcote range on silver is worth a shot. glaze and wax.
