i've not joined on yet mate, all my dads mates (sneaky i know) are supervisors/senior rov pilots working for either rov-tech/stena/gb diving/otsl sent them all my cv and my dads name is well known and resepected so once i get my offshore survival sorted i should be taken on by rov-tech or gb for 20k a year training :)

josh1989
11th April 2008, 01:01
i know i shouldn't rely on my dad's name as well, which i'm not, if i get knocked back i'm thinking of getting an electrician qualification or getting a degree, we shall see :)

yeh i'm told so, north sea as well so enough dollar :), always been really interested in mechanical and electrical stuff and seeing as my dream of raf pilot isn't going to happen and i've gone off the idea anyway its perfect

dad was a commercial deep sea sat diver so i've been exposed to the lifestyle and the people all my life really looking forward to it, means i can start settling down and getting on the property ladder in afew years as well :)

josh1989
11th April 2008, 01:09
oh and if you want i might be able to get your cv pushed to the front for rov neighbour and friend of my dad works for them, he's away at the mo but just remind us when ya whack ya cv out and if you have any questions i can find out some answers :)

VTR-LEE
11th April 2008, 01:13
Sweet gonna see what courses i need to transfer over to rov, when i get back to uk ill update my cv and send it off. cheers mate you on here alot then? in case i have some questions?

Sweet gonna see what courses i need to transfer over to rov, when i get back to uk ill update my cv and send it off. cheers mate you on here alot then? in case i have some questions?

yeh i'm on here pretty often just drop a pm, i don't know about courses, i know there's one in aberdeen it's a 7 week course but it's like £15k :panic: rov-tech pay train you up on the job it's about 20k a year which is a big wage drop for yourself so probably not the best idea all should only need your offshore survival course which is about £800, my knowledge is limited at the mo, but like i say if you have a question i can quite easily pass it on to someone who will definately have the answer :y:

VTR-LEE
11th April 2008, 01:24
Yer ok mate cheers new the course was pricy lol dint know 15k though,
Yer i have a class 4 marine engineers licence hoping to get class 2 in years time,
But the ships your dads on must have marine engineers that run the engine room wonder if there are any 3rd engineer positons,

Ill deff pm ya i might try and get up to black pool for night out have a mate who lives that area.

you shouldn't struggle at all to get on then, my dads rip now but i know the last boat he worked on has marine engineers on seeing as it had a fire they were all trinidadians and lazy fookers! but yeh you shouldn't struggle at all with your experience!
