ps3 game regions?

am i right in saying i can buy a game from anywhere in the world and it will play? there is no different game 'formats' heard they have gta4 out on sale here so thinking of buying it :D

one point though, is that it is out on the 29th here.. not that long away really, so unless its a lot cheaper, is it worth it?

im back 25th, but it gives me something to do this week ;) had the ps3 and fifa on the 42" we have and its awesome, just going to see how much it is over here
