They're very nice-looking cars, many say not as involving to drive as a Saxo although I haven't driven one personally. A bit more grown up, a few more toys. Have a drive and make sure you get it mechanically checked by someone in the know. When things go wrong your little purse starts to feel verrrry light. Find a good one, happy days :)

They are lovely! Quick and really comfortable. Try and get the updated one with automatic wipers and lights.

I am putting a deposit down on one later today :)

do both GTI's(meaning gti and gti180) have the leather interior and AC etc?

the one im looking at has these - but its not that nice blue tho is the silver one!

Danr
13th April 2008, 13:11
All have aircon and half leather. Well, should do. The GTI180 has more sporty seats but cost a hell of alot more to buy and to insure. They are pretty rapid though!

The very first gti's didn't have as many goodies as the later ones though :)

bexster82
13th April 2008, 13:12
ok ty Dabr - the one im looking at isnt the 180 then - thats for sure.

its only £4g's - 52 reg - 37000 miles

Danr
13th April 2008, 13:13
Sounds like a good price for the mileage. They can go on for ever if they are serviced and the little bits kept on top of.

What colour is it?

bexster82
13th April 2008, 13:17
its silver hun

yeah it comes with full Pug service history too which is a bloody bonus - its not a dead cert tho depends on the finance - lol :)

i love my VTR tho but im not sure i want a mod car even thou its not heavily modded - need something suttle now lol getting old

Hi unsure if you got my PM,

206 GTI grp 14 insurance

Goodies include, Aircon, Auto Lights & wipers, nice leather interior and colour coding as standard in the phase 2's

a claimed 138 BHP standard quite nippy (drove both) felt good and solid compared to my mk2 vtr at the time, it also felt more grown up.The seats are very nice like arm chairs lol very comfortable i found.

206 GTI 180 grp 17

A claimed 180 BHP now obviously for the rise in insurance groups as youd expect quite abit of difference in acceleration that i noticed. The seats are bucket style leather alacantra and hold you in place when cornering. The 180 offers climate control, bigger alloys, twin pipe exhaust and a quite nice engine bay as standard, its lower and also missing a spare wheel lol.

I own a 180 but i didnt completely overlook the gti and as pugs go the 206 is very nice.

If your going to end up modding the car i wouldnt bother with the 180, it is so damn expensive to mod and gain power. Most people actually loose power, luckily i defineatly havent lol.

Now,

One thing to look for when buying a gti is the engine cut out problem that some suffer, this is only found in the 138 models and pug cant fix it which is abit of a pain. So dig around a little, obviously check that all pannels line up, no extra paints, and broken clips to suggest its not been looked after.

Search my name on here and you will eventually come accross a thread on a text HPI test for £1.50.

& for more detailed information on 206's in general visit,

206info.co.uk

They are a great lot just like on here.

Hope this helps you :)

lol i get the cut out problem.

trying to figure it out right now.. im thinking faulty injectors tbh

exhausts pops like nothing else aswell and the car spits and judders at low speed.

fud of a thing.

Its a shame Mitch as that GT is a minter in looks, no one seems to have any luck finding the problem on the 138 engine :( pug are useless though so maybe a really experienced indipendant garage- cant spell could help you!

I bought one in the end. Lovely :)

Looks nice dan, i saw it on your site but didnt leave a comment as this computer is shat in a hat slow lol or maybe its the internet lol

Dan didnt you have a 172?

next time just sit back, lean your arm on the doorcard and look smooth. Who cares if there's a massive traffic jam behind you beeping.

Very nice cars, but corners like a dog tbh and i dont believe they are fast enough for what engine they have (a VTS will be quicker)

Here is a few pics of my mums which i also drove alot

a 180 is quicker than a vts and much faster top end.

Jamie
21st April 2008, 20:09
Yeh i eat vts'sssss for breakfast when it was standard lol

Mine doesnt handle that bad? I feel more confident to through it in to a corner than in my old vtr lol mind you thats probably because theres a good chance il live. lol

I have had it lowered and have a upper strut brace.. but stillllll

Anyway back on topicccc before it becomes a saxo vs 206 thread.

Check out the gti 138, offers alot for the money imo!

Mitchell
21st April 2008, 20:11
aye i personally think mines is alot of car for the money aswell.

its nice and big inside with nice seats and all the extras you can want.

i think mines handles fine aswell, not really much difference to the vts i used to have.

then again i dont thrash it round bends... dont want to break it ;)

stiffler69
21st April 2008, 20:17
Yeah their isnt a great deal of difference between the gti and vts it handles very similar and feels very similar to drive just more comfortable, more goodies and more for your money, i also think myn is quicker than my vts and they both have the same modifications, full breather mods, i just think you need to know when to hit the throttle in the 206 otherwise it doesnt like it and drags a little, i normally take it to 3k smoothly the punch the accelerator and it completely misses the flat spots doesnt wheel spin and pulls like a 2.0 should, i love my its just getting old now and needs some little jobs doing once these are done it should be great again and ill probably go for a few more mods. All in all these are a great car for the money

Jamie
21st April 2008, 20:18
lol yeh i take mine slow around bends especially since im trigger happy with the esp... always off :P

goes like stink since the remap and other goodies. not that i condone racing but its seen off a fair few cars now loves sport clios ;).

Its a great laugh, that remap has made such a difference, it wasnt slow before but fk me its made a hell of a difference in torque and acceleration:)

Il get a chavtastic style video of it moving soon in a car park with no one there lol that would be powerful.

Is bexster reading the comments on the gti 138 lol ? havent heard a responce :P

Jamie
21st April 2008, 20:56
It sounds like a turbo lol, i would id love to but its so much money,

Next year ive been offered my mums scoob wrx for cheap because shes my mum obviously lol so i doubt my 206 will have such treatment :(

I think the next owner may go through those lines with it if they want a giant killer lol
