The slightly older ones with 'Edward Elgan 1857-1934' are still in use and perfectly fine
They will be eventually phased out according to this link, although no date is set currently.

At the moment the banks are trying to collect as many of the old £20 notes as possible and all atm's are being topped up with the new style-or at least should be-the one I look after is always topped up with brand new notes to ensure it's done by the book, and we send all the old twenties to the bank asap, just like we do with scottish money.
There isn't any real talk of the old style leaving us just yet, I think we have a few more years of it yet :y:

just take them to a bank and they'll give you new ones

Scottish money sucks.
Went into morrisons on saturday and was given a scottish fiver in change. Realising I didnt want to take it out with me to save confusion in town i went and bought a pack of chewing gum and a bottle of water at another till and the bird behind there tried telling me they didnt accept scottish money. throw me a fricking bone here.....

They shouldn't give you a fiver in change. I don't know about morrisons companies rules but I know every other cash office attendant in a store in England must ensure that the notes given to the cashier is of English money only and that the cashier must not give "foreign" money to the customer.
One of our members of staff gave a customer 2 euros in change... but tbh she shouldn't of accepted the 2 euros as payment from another customer! :panic:

It was morrisons, hardly the royal bank of scotland.
I did exactly the same thing when I worked there lol....

I work in the Spar and its so hard to give Scot notes out, people refuse them and call it fake money :homme:
Dont get many Oldish £20 notes now either, but they are still accepted:y:
