well the other day was drivin down an A-road and my exhaust went really loud so i thought oh great, so i got out and had a look and its now only hanging on by the rubber hangers....the centre pipe where it attaches to the back box is f****d. shall i take it to kwik fit and get them to do it? if so how much will it be? i cba to do it myself....

i think in garages its about 40 quid or so ive been quoted myself before. but if its not the whole thing that needs sorting and just needs correcting it might be cheaper. it could be different everywhere though so i think maybe ring round a few places and get a few quotes.

...order an aftermarket centre section and fit it yourself or take the centre down to quickfit....or any other garage preferably.

If you are going to get a standard bit, you will probs have to get a centre section and a backbox, probs best to replace them all in 1 go. You may even need a cat, not sure where the cat is on a mk1 vtr, on mine, it's in centre section, the same thing happened to me round the cat, needed whole new centre section, wern't cheap. You may be lucky and cat may be in the manifold so you will just need centre section pipe, a lot cheaper.

the cat is brand new as is the peco back box...may need new centre section but its only about 2 inches of centre pipe corroded where it attaches to back box
