Right just got new PC,
getting on my tits already. Mouse is freezing every now and then for approx 1 second.
Its Vista x64 SP1,
mouse driver is up to date,
think its worth buying a decent mouse which needs specific drivers?
or anyone know a solution?

Have you tried the PC with another Mouse? Sounds obvious.. But you know =)

About the only thing I havent tried, but the mouse is literally fine in a Vista 32 bit machine, got the 2 machines sitting next to each other.

Try that.. If it still freezes for a few seconds then I don't know.. It seems to be a common problem with Vista x64.

The only thing I can suggest is joining up to this and making a quick post..

its in the USB. (its not wireless either)
saxodan, by any chance do you have a SATA II out port on the back of your case?

I have a laptop
no....

the problem with mine only happens when it uses the usb
i think when it needs ram etc the usb is a lower priorty, touch pad allways works though

Are you sure it's the mouse?

There are problems with nVidia's display drivers, which can cause the behaviour that you are describing.

vista is actually good if you have decent hardware ;)

I've had no problems with it on my machine, runs as fast as xp.

For the first time in my life, and prolly the only time I have to agree with Daryl!! :fcuk:

It's actualy quite good, maybe not quicker than XP but as the above states, if you have the hardware, then it's pretty decent!

People just don't like change, and paying for new hardware. :P

lol @ use XP.
If I was to use XP, Id need the 64bit version, which is awful for drivers etc.

Cheers Vidal ~ Will update my display drivers if possible.

I bought a new mouse, should be here Monday.

It's a Razer ....something,
cost a fooking bomb.

That's because laptops will struggle to run Vista, unless they have about 2-4GB of ram and decent dual core CPU. (And remember laptop hardware is far from the same speed as a PC's hardware).
