Happenin Guys,
I've read through a lot of stuff on here about wiring up components and amps and attempted it today myself so.. i think i've got it right...
Tweeter and MId go into x-over and input is the amp... amp then runs to head unit through RCA cable.. earth under rear seat.. connect to power...
Only thing i'm confused about is on my head unit the connector for the remote is a metal circle with plastic over it.. and the remote lead from the amp is kinda the same.. how do i connect it?
:panic:

do you mean the control cable? the cable that turns the amps and sub on via the headunit?

Wiring of the components sounds about right mate.
With regards to the remote lead...
It sounds like the blue remote lead on the back of your head unit has a female bullet connector on it.
You need to get a male bullet connector, crimp it onto the remote cable from the amp and push that into the one coming from the head unit.
Failing that...
Strip off about an inch of cable from the remote lead from the amp, twist it up, bend it in half to double up the thickness and then just stuff it into the head unit remote plug. Pack it in thight, then just get some insulation tape or similar and wrap it up, so it doesnt touch any other wires! Job done!!

Ok what i done was stick the wire in the end of the head units remote lead and crimpped it.
I ain't get the speakers connected to the amp yet but i've noticed there's no power going to the amp when i turn the ignition... will the amp not show as powering up untill i've connected the speakers?
Or am i gonna have to dig up all the carpets and seats again :panic:

i had the same kinda problem when i bought my headunit / amp etc.. but the plug that goes from the headunit to the standard saxo plug had a wire in it which u could connect into there.. read the saxo / headunit manual, there should be a grey wire in the saxo plug, your connect the power-control wire to it and bingo uve got sound

two grey wires by the way one is switched live which you can use for the remote and ones permanent live, which if you connect to that the amps will be on with the keys out
get yourself a multimeter if thats the approach your going to take

u jus stripped de RCA cable and cut the blue/blue and white cable on back of head unit and stripped bout inch of the end and same on the RCA cable n jus twisted them around each other bit of tape over the top of the bare metal and den was all working fine

Ok i had a look.. the two grey wires in the ISO block in question are already connected when my iso block plugs into the HU.. one goes to red which i assume is power and the other yellow which i think has got something to do with the memory. Here's some pics...

sorry forgot to say im not 100% sure it is the grey one, but like i said if you read the manual it will tell you which is which, then when u find the right one simply connect your p.con wire to it, hope that helps

The best thing to do mate, is just touch the remote cable (from amp) on the different wires that are in the back of the HU. When the amp powers up you know you've found either a live or a switched live. Then see if it goes off with the ignition.
But out of those 3 wires, red, blue and yellow, im pretty sure the blue is remote!
Im pretty sure the red one is switched live, but his means that every time your iginition comes on, so does the amp.
And dont listen to a word "saxowesty" is saying. I havent got a clue why you would wrap the RCA cable around the remote cable...

just invest in a multimeter mate, ill tell you how to use one there only about a fiver :y:
as coonper said the blue one will most likely be the remote however it could also be the illumination, have you not got the manual for the headunit???

Cheers Predator... i'm gonna nip up to Maplin and get one today.
In the meantime here's the diagram from my HU manual.. the amp remote is 0.3a maximum would that cause it not to work.. and the yellow and red leads are continuous supply and switched which are connected to my HU would my amp need to be connected to one one these?
