AS above how long does it take for 8v headgasket to be done, by a machanic btw

Not to long, cam belt has to be redone also.
if you have it booked in you should get it back the same day.

why would the cambelt have to be done also my head getting replaced today but they never metion owt about the cambelt + my cambelt only got done 8,000 miles ago so dont think it would need doing

Cambelts loose tension after a while,and crack between the teeth, know yours was done 8k ago but it`s not a wise move refitting the original belt.Hope this goes someway to explaining your question.

not saying you would need a new one but how are they going to take the head of with your cambelt on?
meaning it will need puting on again and re tensioning, might as well get a new 1.

A cambelt is only about £10 anyway, so may as well.
As for time to do it...if I did it with help from a friend I reckon 3 hours.

if its being done properly mate. yes the head should be skimed and crack tested.
