its perfect idea as it gives us younger ones a chance with the lesser expensive cars compared to the gumball cars....

I've been having a look today and really it depends what everybody wants to get out of it... I would like to go all out and get a load of decals for all the cars, hotels every night and of course theres the ferry crossing to take into account. Now im happy to phone around hotels and the ferry to get some discount for being in a group. It would also be 10 times cheaper if we camped at camp sites ect, but as i say its up to everybody to work out what we should do. If you got any ideas for what you would want to do on the tour, drop a line on the forum and hopefully we'll be able to work out something thats affordable and worthwhile for everyone.

Sounds like fun mate, maybe you'd gain a bigger chunk interest if u opened it up a bit, maybe to like hatchbacks of a certain breed...like 205's, 106/206/saxo/fiesta's and even nippy metros! just a thought

Yeah thats a possibilty mate.. Just wanna keep it simple atm though. and i quite like the idea of it being exclusive!! lol. As i say its still in the planning stages, and im looking for feedback from anyone who's interested. I wanna make it something that everyone can enjoy and make sure i dont miss anything out. Its looking to be 4-6 days long. amsterdam-paris-and the unsure about south of france, germany and italy. Dont think we could do them all. But as i said.. if you got any ideas or questions, drop a line on the forum and lets get the ball rolling.

Currently looking for website owners to put up links to the site, doesnt have to be anything major, just a quick mention to get the word around. And you can also expect me to do the same for your site ;)

just dont fancy going in the 1.1 being left behind

asa106
18th April 2008, 16:51
I understand what you mean mate but only being 106's and saxo's there will probably be alot of 1.1's, and as it says its not a race, just be a good laugh. Aslong as you make it to the next stop every night, you'll be fine, and we shouldnt be hard pushed for time anyway.

steve_335

sounds interesting
any idea on dates and such?
if i do go ill be doing it for charity aswell

asa106
18th April 2008, 17:08
Charity i like it!! lol.. Yeah at the end of the day its just to have a bit of fun, im sure they'll be ups and downs lol. I was hoping we could get together some sponsors and im bulk buying decals for all the cars involved. rear windscreen decal, 2 door logo's and large bonnet logo's. I've been using the dates.. 12th july 08 to around 17th july to just get an idea of the price. Now for 2 adults in one car, your return ticket on the ferry is 76 quid between you, which isnt too bad as it is, but i could probably get that knocked down a bit if i book us all in at once. So as you see i just need to get everyones opinions and what works for them, so that i can start booking things ect.

I've just put up a brief plan of the route on the site, you can find it by clicking on the link PUGball route, by all means tell me what you think, i want everyone to be happy :D lol. If you have any interest in the PUGball, register on the forum and i can send you updates via email ;)
Theres also a little competition on making the logo for the event, the best design will be sent away and put on the decals which will be on the cars, so feel free to send them to my email asa52@hotmail.co.uk.

HINT* keep it one colour, peugeot/citroen related, and with the text pugball '08.

Great idea dude but how many people are roughly going atm?

Depending on dates/prices i would be well up for this :D

asa106
18th April 2008, 18:51
Only started getting the word around today mate, but of course alot of interest from both 106owners.co.uk and saxperience so i think once i can get everything how everybody wants it, we should have a good turn out. Im thinking of limiting the amount of cars to 40-50. This may not sound much but can you imagine 50 modified 106/saxos flying through the alps, or through the small italian and french roads. Also want to keep it all under control, to minimise fuck ups ect. Plus you gotta think about accomodation, 50 drivers and then their passengers lol.
As far as price goes im hoping to keep it as low as poss really, so that we have enough money to blow in paris milan and maybe amsterdam, and because most of us are under 20 so havn't got gumball budgets. Im really trying to work out how everyone wants to sleep lol, personally i down mind where, my car if i have to, but would everyone be happy with booking camping space everywhere apart from say milan where we could get a hotel and have a night out in the town? tell me what you think?

asa106
18th April 2008, 18:53
Dates.. middle of july to august.. around there. Not all that time obviously lol. Just 4-6 days. Gives us a bit of time to save but still close enough to be thinking about it.

Sounds like it would be good fun. An idea may be to open it to more modded car forums. For example the likes of corsa-c.co.uk or cliosport.net? The more the merrier i say. Make it a hatchback event.

what year is this happening? 2009? If so that gives us enough time to build a car lol..

Just a bit of an update, i have an estimated cost or 250-300 quid PER CAR thats based on 2 adults + 1 car lol. Obviously i will try and get this down some more, not definate price yet.
With that you get:
PUGball '08 tickets
Return ferry journey
Hotel/camping accomodation for 4-5 nights
4 car decals - bonnet, doors and rear windscreen
Gb sticker
Headlight deflectors
and perhaps some other bits and bobs..

what countries would we be going through, i only ask as gumball style trips are now illegal in germany. some way or another you get fucked by the german police.

asa106
19th April 2008, 08:46
I was going to take the trip through stuttgart but it would be eaier to stick to strabourg (france) after milan and then go from strasbourg to amsterdam via luxembourg and belgium. Should have a final route up very soon.

asa106
19th April 2008, 08:57
Right guys.. the price is looking to be below 300 quid and the trial dates are 12th of july to the 17th of july. The route is dover - paris .. paris - lyon .. lyon to milan .. milan - strasbourg .. strasbourg to amsterdam .. amsterdam to dover. I have found accomodation at al of these points, although have not booked anything yet. Hotels everynight apart from in milan where ive found a very nice campsite just outside the center of the city. If you are genuinly interested at this price i need you to contact me via asa52@hotmail.co.uk, so that i can start putting together a list of people. Could you please tell me your full name.. email.. car spec and number of passengers.
Remember even though this is not a contrete list of people it will be on a first come first served basis, so get your name down now if you can. Remember there is a current limit of 50 cars!!This list will be up on the site.
cheers

asa106
19th April 2008, 09:56
This price covers 2 adults, sharing a car. Any additional passengers will have to be paid for independantly or i may be able to do this after the booking have been done. Additional passengers will be subject to pay the ferry crossing at about 45 quid return. This should not effect hotels as they are charged on a room basis, athough at the at the milan camping spot, extra passnegers will have to pay around 10 euros, nothing major.

asa106
19th April 2008, 19:02
OK, alot has happened today. I have spoken to a company willing to make lanyards/tickets for the event, and some possible sponsors. I have also been in contact with companies supplying the decals, so thats in the process. However now that ive got everything going and now have the route finalised. Tickets are now on sale, although there have been no bookings made at the hotels yet, i will have to sell places before i can book up. This really is happening now guys, you won't be let down. On the unlikely event that accomodation or transport becomes unavailable you can expect a full refund. Its just that like most people i dont have 14k sitting around to book up 200 hotel rooms, 50 campsites and 50 return tickets for the channel crossing. What i may do is book everything 10 cars at a time, this way people who pay first can expect hotel confirmation and ferry tickets asap. And this leaves room for more cars, should there be demand. Any questions just ask? Feel free to email me regarding anything at asa52@hotmail.co.uk

Massive change of plans... Basically i understand fully that its very hard to hand over 280 quid to someone over the internet and rely on them to book hotels 4 u ect... so ive came up with teh idea of an entrant pack.. So that we keep the idea of it being a franchise and the sense of bellonging. So for a yet to be decided price.. you would recieve from me.. car decals, Specific details of hotels, times and details of the ferry, PUGball '08 tickets/lanyards, PUGball '08 T-shirts and perhaps some other merchandise. This way you are at liberty to book things directly yourself but we are all stil part of the PUGball... What do you think?

FinchysSaxo
20th April 2008, 06:27
thats not to bad a idea m8 as will make people be a bit happier to hand over money to you

asa106
20th April 2008, 08:09
Ueah we all know it would be easier if one person just booked it all ect but tbh i'd be a bit sketchy abotu handy over £300 quid like that. The entrant packs should be up for sale right at the end of this month and should be around £30 quid, and will include:

+ PUGball '08 ticket/lanyard
+ 4x Large PUGball car decals
+ PUGball '08 T-shirt in a size of your choice
+ Detailed information on hotels/campsites we plan on staying at.
+ Detailed maps for each day
+ Information on travelling abroad, useful telphone numbers and checklist.
+ Exact times for the Ferry to and from Dover/calais.
+ Background information on our destinations.
+ And perhaps some other merchandise.

The hotel and ferry crossing should cost cost you no more than £200-£220 between 2 of you. You only require one entrant pack per driver/car. Additional merchandise/T-shirts will be available through the website shop closer to the event.

UPDATE: Sponsors.. over the next couple of days i will be creating a sponsor pack, telling possible sponsors exactly what this about and ways in which they can sponsor us. On idea i have had is that i will allow them to place a small logo/website on each car for a price of £1 pound per car. So when we meet at Dover i will hopefully be able to give you all lots of £1's in exchange that you display the sponsors logo/website on your car, sound like an idea?

So is this based on a franchise or are the hotels being booked by you so were all in one place?.

We'll all be on the same place mate, the entrant packs will provide you with all the hotel details and ferry details. I was going to book everything myself but that would mean everyone giving mee £280 quid over the net so that idea is out the window lol. So i am providing you with all the details you need, maps, t-shirt and then the awesome decals for the cars.
