ok.. so ive got a basic install at the min.. front speakers, pioneer 400watt-rms sub.. and the subs powerd by a 350watt(max) amp
im considering switching things up a little bit
im thinking about running the front speakers off the amp that ive got at the min and buying a monoblock amp to run the sub off (probs around 1000watt max)
u reckon this would work? and would i need another battery?

you would need a set of component speaker if there not already components as theres no point amping up coxials...
also need to get an amp that puts out 400 watts rms so all the figures match up so your getting the most out of it..
Also you probably should uprate the battery

In order to get the best out of your sub without putting a lot of strain on the amp you're going to need to look for an amp that produces around 600w RMS. What is the model of the sub, do you have any links to it?

yeah.. this is the package ive got at the min

but im thinking to change the amp and use that one to power the door speakers. and using a monoblock to power the sub..
and ross, i have got coax in front.. will using the existing amp not work to power them?
also.. dno if it helps but this is the monoblock im thinking of getting

the amp you have now would power some front speakers nicely at 2 x 55 rms, but components sound better so get rid of the coaxials and buy some of them
amp fo sub should be fine but gain shouldnt be set too high

yeah cheers pred.. budgets tight.. so im guna keep the coax speakers until i can afford components.. prbs spend around £50 to £80 on components.. ive seen the hertz ones (orange ones) for £70.. i read they were decent in maxpower few months ago, u reckon they would be a goot buy?

yeah cheers pred. thats the kinda thing im looking for ;) but prioritising myself.. so guna buy some sound proofing material 1st as the back end of my car rattles like hell with the sub, then guna get the new monoblock amp and then components after. hopefully can get components asap tho. coz there will be no mids / highs powering over the bass :S :( lol

You can get splitters that turn one pre out into 2!
The only downside to this is that you cant control the amps independantly.
And also a slight loss in quality, but nothing really noticable.

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-alpine-mrp-m450_p-21622.htm
i need 400rms to power the sub.. it says that amp has 400watt bridged rms.. ive only got 1 sub so in theory it will be bridged..
will that amp work?
