2 things with CD Player...

Hi Guys,

Just got a 1.1 Saxo Desire mainly due to insurance/petrol/cost reasons compared to my old car.

Seems to be going ok just 2 things about the CD player:

1. Sometimes it decides not to work. I put the CD in it reads its there then just spits it back out 15 seconds later. Sometimes it doesn't do it and works fine.

2. The CD player gets REALLY hot when it plays the CD for a period of time. I drive long distances usually at weekends following football and after an hour-ish the CD player + the CD could probably fry an egg with the heat they provide.

Any ideas what's up or is this a common thing? It's the factory fitted Citroen CD player no mods.

Sounds to me like the head unit has gone kaput! Just buy another, cus the standard ones are shit anyway mate;)

Unless you are playing copied cd's and it doesnt like it...

cd player gets hot due to the very little amout of space there is behind the cd player.

try moving everything from behind it to give it a bit more space to breath, if there isnt anything u can move u can fit a fan a fan in behind it to keep it cool.

disc may be scratched or dirty so cd player may not be able to read it all the time and then just spit it out. try giving it a clean.

Cheers I'll have a look, it's more than 1 CD and they're not copied but may have little marks on so I'll keep wiping them

just sound like the headunit has gone mate, just go for a new one you can pick a nice new cd HU up dirt cheap these days!

iv went back to the standard 1 too. mine reads discs sometimes asweal. im gna take it apart n clean it with cotton bun n toilet roll lol
ill tell u if it works with mine then ill get some photos up for yas if u wana do it yourself.
