do standard dvd players play .avi files? or do they defo need to be converted?

Standard??

I know mine plays all file types, (Philips). Have you still got the box your dvd player came in? it usually tells you on the side of the box or somewhere like that what it plays.

Its not a standard feature for a DVD player. Its much more common that DVD players do play them these days though but if its an old DVD player then it def wont!

havnt got the xbox any more ive got a cheap dvd player from Asda and a Wiiiiiiiiii.

will just have to try and see what happens, cheers all

Just type in the make and model into google and see if its divx compatible
