I went to start my car and it ticks over but wont start. Called out recovery and the bloke reckons that its the immobilser.
I bought the car with a TOAD alarm and immobilser but not really sure which model. All i can say is that its on a keyring. My car still wont start, anyone got any ideas???
Help appreciated

So it turns over but wont actually fire??
Does it stutter as if its going to go, or does it just turn over, with no sign of it actually working??
If its turning over but not running it WILL be either of these;
*no spark
*no fuel
The immobiliser can disarm either of these, so the thing to do would be to live up the fuel pump with a permanent live and then see if it runs. If it doesnt, move onto the spark plugs.
Take out one plug, earth it on the body, then turn the car over. If there is a spark then you know its not that.

i have the same problem mate.. apparently its common on saxos.. i was told to sort the "transponder ariel" which is under the the steering wheel in a black box apparently, havnt got round to trying it myself yet.
its not the spark plugs or fuel.. just the imobiliser getting stuck on
its not a problem tho.. just dont keep trying the key. the key light on the dash will flash when the imobiliser doesnt come off. so simply just leave it for a min and try again.. if i leave it for a few seconds allways works for me.

i posted to this when ash had the same problem a couple of days ago! i had the same problem just whip the plastic panel off below the sterring wheel and there is a little black box around the ignition barrel, thats the problem there not sendign the signal to the immobiliser to turn it off. i was told to get a new one but i unplugged the little black box and then plugged it back in and its been fine ever since, it used to be a common problem happening at leas 8/10 times, since unplugging it and pluggging it back in it hasnt done it in a month :)
hope this helps

Thanks for the help lads, with the help of mate we found out that it has no spark but its not any of the spark plugs. Got a mechanic looking at it tonight so hopefully it will get sorted.

Well thats what the immobilser does...
It stops the spark! So now you know it doesnt deactivate the fuel pump, so you know you need to trace the wires back from the coil pack.:y:
