I tried to use one of the dongle/ USB things in the past on my laptop.
Had a nightmare trying to configure the settings and after a few weeks gave up.
If you do decide to get one, try and get it from a reputable dealer that could install it for you, saves a lot of messing around.

Beware of some advertised on Ebay. They are basic as anything, dodgy software and half of them don't have English instructions!!

Which one did you have/tried. We sell quite a few at work (pc world) I have never tried one mind you. But we have many different ones from hauppage. They seem fairly easy to use on the box though but it would do lol.
If you have Media centre on your pc you should be ale to configure it through that once you have run the setup disc (if it comes with one).

yup ive got 1, you can pause tv and record no problems. The dongles are useless without an external aerial connection thought mate.

They only £20 and i have a freecom one and its very good.
