my brakes are working fine! and my car stops ok!

but when i push the pedal down! and this mainly happens when the car is out of gear, but the pedal has a very juddery feeling through it, and my vtr does not have abs, its not a very strong feeling but i can still feel it and also hear it!

does the steering wheel judder? as this would suggest warpped discs or very worn pads.

when your car is in gear and you brake there is engine braking assisting the slowing down of the car.

Worn them in dude? ;)

Sounds like disks or pads as said...if the car stops and it doesnt feel spongey or anything than it narrows the options down a lot

Had the same problem with juddering brakes, the problem was the brake calliper had seized up. The calliper should be able to move on guides where the calliper is mounted and these had locked solid causing the brake pads to push on the disk, if the disk is even slightly warped then the brakes will bind. A calliper repair kit is available on Ebay or just try undoing the bolts and clean the guides using anti seize copper grease.

you say you've just fitted new discs. maybe not been done right? ie the disc hasn't mated up properly in line with the hub face. try refitting and make sure everythings tight etc
