Heard on the news about Ireland wanting to change the law on people just through their test, stopping them having passengers, driving after nine at night and also not being able to go over 45mph? Not from Ireland myself but was just wondering what everyone thought...

I think its a good idea in someways, bad in others.. If this happened in the UK, I wouldn't be 100% behind it Lol. Gotta admit though, it would save alot of lives..

i heard they were talking about the same thing in england, i do admit myself i do drive differently when i have passengers but think old people are worse then young drivers

I can't see it working. People have jobs which mean that in the winter months when it gets dark at 4pm they wouldn't be able to get home. Also, if a 32 year old man with 4 kids has just passed his test does that mean he can't drive as well?
It wouldn't work, the only way to make a difference is to raise the driving age. Which in turn wouldn't work again as it could put alot of young people out of work. In my line of work a licence is essential and you can start at 17. Would screw alot of people over.

load of crap. wont be enforced thats like putting a curfuw on someone and the gardai are thick fucks as it is. a load of smoke been blowing around road law lately.
the new law states you cant drive around with out a full licenced driver or its 1000 euro fine which wont come into play until june and wont be heavily enforced until 2009.

Being from ireland i think it sucks.
They want to introduce a law where you have to do 70 hours worth of driving lessons at 25quid an hour what a stroke. This in turn means you can not do you test until you are 18.
We are already restrcited to 45mph on R plates which sucks big time.
Driving after 9 is a no no some of have to work for god sake
No passengers also just takes the biscuit.
Insurance over here is higher than anywere else in the UK also.
I pay my road tax and my insurance like any other good person so why should i have to suffer because im a beginner driver in my first year. There are dangerous drivers at young ages, dangerous drivers who have been driving more than 10 years and there are dangerous drivers in the older age groups also. This is utter bullshite.
Fortunatley for me im off my R plates in 2 weeks and therefore wont give a toss :D ha.

Aye, it sounds pretty bad. Pretty glad I'm 20 in case it comes to Scotland! The government and shit are gettin outta control though, sooner or later you're not gonna be able to do anything without it bein illegal.
The R plates sound lame as hell though, how do they make sure u keep em on?
