Another work related thread from me.

Does anyone know of a conversion site or tool that can factor in the value of inflation to work out how much £6000 in 1988 would be in todays money?

Rep left for a good link or actual answer :y:

Cheers

I don't know of any sites but i would say that if you do find one, your £6000 will be worth a lot less than the goverment or any official inflation figures would lead you to believe.

Without looking it up, what's inflation at the minute?.......2% !?

How can that be?

Everything from the price of bread to fuel has gone up with an absolute bang over the last year or so. The cost of living in this country is an absolute joke.

2%? Bollocks!

Well it was worth £11580 in 2006 if you had £6000 in 1988

Here is quite a useful calculator

inflation does not take into account many things.
Theres an article on www.fool.co.uk - a very good site for an unbiased view on the moneymarkets

Again without looking, I'm pretty certain bread is one and surely the utilities like gas and elec are included!?

In 2007, £6,000.00 from 1988 is worth
£11,595.92 using the retail price index.
