hi,

i've got an r reg vts thats giving me a bit of grief. was driving the other day when there was a clunk from the bottom of the car and since then the vibration from within the car is immense! i didnt hit anything and there was nothing left in the road. from outside the car it is almost completely un-noticable apart from when you stick your head by the tail-pipe.

i got my local exhaust centre to stick it on the ramp and they tightened up a few bolts where i had a new cat fitted for MOT purposes. car is completely standard and there is also no unusual noise from the engine bay that i can hear.

if anyone has any clue PLEASE let me know cos i've just about had it with car problems!

cheers guys!

Does the dash sound like its about to explode and is it more noticable when in the car, if so could well be engine mounts mate.

Put a jack under neath the sump and take the weight of the engine, obviously dont jack it up too far and then inspect the mounts.

yeah when i'm inside the car it feels like its had a 400bhp mid-engine convert! can't remember the dash being noticably worse than the rest of the car but if i close the sunroof blind the noise is f**king awful. vibration feels worse coming from the floor roundabout where the hand-brake is.

cheers for the help mate, i'll get the jack out tonight and have a nosy. any other ideas feel free to let me know!

cheers again.

It's the bolt that holds the engine mount under the ECU together mate! TAke the ECU off, put a jack under the engine to take the weight and remove the mount. I'd put my life on it loking like this...

All you have to do is drill then snapped bolt from the middle of the upper bit and replace it with another bolt. Easy DIY fix!

No worries mate. When you take it off, make sure you can drill the bolt out yourself or know someone that can as you wont be able to move the car until it's done, lol.
