Hey guys n gals.
Some of you might already be aware of what im about to say, some of you may not (Its about your road TAX)
So as we all know they are upping everyones road tax rates over the coming years & you2001 onwards owners are probably already unhappy about your shift from £180 up to £210 last year.
Well unfortunatly its gonna get much much worse for you.
This year you get another year of £210 for a years road tax.
As of March 2009 though it jumps up to £300
2010 it finds its new home at £310 too!
Personally im absolutely stunned! £90 is a huge hike in price to pay in a years time so i thought id just make sure everyone is aware of this because quite frankly it wouldnt surprise me if people planned on selling up because of it, either for a 2000-2001 model VTS or just because you migh find them harder to shift after they cost £170 for half a years road tax!
2000-2001 model VTS still have the mk2 front end but are old enough to fall out of the stupid new tax rules so they will enjoy £185 next year whilst you pay almost double that!
Absolutely shocking tbh, more info here (http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/?deriv=17754)
Whilst thats prtty bad for us, there are quite a few vehics which come off much worse... Plan on getting a BMW M3 for example? remember to budget £1k for your annual road tax :)
Sorry to be the bringer of bad news for those of you who didnt know about this.
a sad Mystic

Dont be a fag lol. Ill be keeping mine for a while now, maybe modding it when i can, will prob get rediculous to tax faster cars before too long, and i certainly will want a faster car at some point.

wack the pre 2001 engine into your shell ;)
Tax is getting out of hand now, It'll be interesting to see what VTS' get left on sax-p considerring they're:
Unsafe,
cheap on parts,
parts break alot,
give you the "boyracer" image,
impractical,
quite good on petrol,
extortionate on road tax whilst only pushing out 120bhp,
whilst at the same time they are insanely fun ;)

Mwahahaha.
I pay £120 a year for my 130bhp fabia. And £120 a year for my 184bhp 2002 vtr ;) Had a 1999 mk2 vts and personally thought the £180 a year for tax was extortionate!

£120 for a VTR? How does that work?
I'm paying £120 on the 307, but as of next year it's £90.

I sent an email to the DVLA asking if i lowered the emissions on my car would i qualify for lower tax. Got a vague reply asking for my registration, might try again.

WHAT!!! A joke tbh... Think my next car will be 2000 vts instead then lol
Ain't paying £300 tax at all
AlexR
28th April 2008, 21:54
As long as my engine is declared to insurance i'm not fussed about the dvla, they can suck my plums if they think i'm paying £300 a year in road tax for a car that will do maybe 1k in england. That £300 could pay for the new tyres and overhaul on my trailer ;)
Yeah actually it was £130 but goes up every year, as with everything.

How about a mass tax paying strike? How will the police cope with 20,000 drivers without tax on the roads all at the same time???
Seriously though, whinge all you want it will never get any better. I have a neighbour (albeit a cnut) who has an Austin 5 classic car. Every time he starts it up, everything in a 6 mile radius gets coated in 3 inches of carbon!
The bastard has free road tax, yet mugs like me that keep my engine in spot on condition and drives less than 5k a year get stung.

How come its the other way round for vtr :S
the extra 8v really make that much difference!!!!
AlexR
28th April 2008, 22:13
Tax is cheaper on a clio 182 than on a saxo vts. wtf?!
My scud goes down to £110 a year in 2009, then up to £115 a year in 2010, not too bad i guess.

im not changing the logbook on my track car ;)
vtr ftw

28th April 2008, 22:28
I also feel for the VTS owners And Corsa VXR owners, as they have the same emissions and the tax jump is identicle!!
So as of 2009 i will also be paying 300 and in 2010 will be paying 310!! :n:
With this and petrol you have to ask yourself what next?? Breathing Tax maybe??

They need to scrap road tax and put if they need the tax put it on petrol instead. Then you pay for miles you do. At the end of the day a lower emission car that does 30,000 miles a year is going to pump out more emissions into the atmosphere then a gas guzzling 4x4 that just does the school run.
The TVR is a 1995 so luckily it's before the new emissions tax bands came in or else we'd be forced to sell it. It's on a 3000 mile limited mileage insurance policy so there's no way I'd pay huge amounts of car tax for it
