black top 1 plug ecu silver top late vtr models 2001 onwards have 3 plug ecu.

black top easier to modify
silvertop engine has cat in the down pipe black top engines have cat under the car.

so many people dont know anything at all but still comment.

Black top had 90 bh9 and came in 97 to 98 cars. Had cat under the car, had no knock sensor and a few other things.

Silver top came in from 98 to ~2000. Had 90 bhp cat under the car and a single plug ecu. It had a knock sensor and a few other changes.

Silver top mk2 was from 2000 until death. Had 98 bhp and cat in the manifold. Also had 3 plug ecu and a number of other irrelvant shit.

See the ENGINES section where its all there but i just had to answer here as so many people were talking rubbish
