Hey all,
Just got out of an interview for a new web development role very local to me. To start, the interview went well. Talked to the media director and he was brilliant. Offered me a drink (Water please!) and sat me down and discussed my skills and the position.
All I can say is, even if I don't get the job, the experience was brilliant. Steve, the media director is a top guy and the company itself is outstanding.
I will find out Friday whether I impressed them enough to get the job, with a 3 month probation period if I did.
Fingers crossed as this company is a company I'd really like to work for.

I wouldn't expect him to read it. Compared to the company I work at now, it's greatly structured and well managed.

I'm not sure if a designer alone could get £60,000.00/year, not just for graphics and basic HTML. What other skills have you got? Any skills in XHTML, CSS 1/2 (Both to W3C standards), JavaScript, AJAX, PHP, MySQL, Ruby, RoR?

Although it depends who you know! Im more of an all round designer than a specialist web designer. Im not really a code monkey. I use Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, ImageReady, Dreamweaver, CSS. I work in the web team of an oil and gas research company so I basically handle corporate literature - cd labels, brochures etc and website visuals etc while the web team handle the coding aspect.

Yeah, I got that mate ;-) When I was in the interview this morning Steve the interviewer showed me a car mag with the R8 on it. It's lush, love the headlights.
Got any work you can show me, in terms of design work?

All my web work is internal only and accessible by client's/ourselves only.
Here's a label set (scaled) I made for our Unconventional Hydrocarbons project;
Its about as exciting as my work gets here as we have pretty strict corporate visual guidelines.

I like the colours mate. Some good work there. I'd show you some work I've done (programming) such as a series of relating auto suggest fields but I don't think my boss would be too impressed just now as we haven't officially launched it.

HAHAHA! Nah, I got my hair cut, even had a shave.
Also, I didn't even have a ciggy before the interview so I didn't smell of smoke, let-a-known hash. Plus, unless in Amsterdam (So I've heard for Dam) hash is crap man.

Yeah, trying not to get my hopes up. It's not like if I don't get the job I've got no work, as I'm still working at my current job.

don't read into it too much man... they could be softening you up for a let down. Don't believe anything until you have a letter in your hand offering the job with a contract.

It's a fantastic oportunity, salary wise and working with what seems to be a fantastic company and a well rounded set of developers.
I was talking to Steve in the interview and they don't agree with "junior developer", "developer" and "senior developer". They call them "light weight", "medium weight" and "heavy weight". I hope he realises I have a problem with my weight before he assigns me something like "heavy weight" which I'm not, I would be "medium weight".

WTF? Managed to blag I was a good person. So I'm not a good person and had to blag I was? ;)
I think I know what you mean though and yes, I was myself.

Very good if you're good at what you're doing. Considering this job gives me 166% of my current wage. ;)

Do I really need to explain that phrase to you? If you've got nothing else to do other than piss on someones potential happiness then I suggest you don't comment.
Saying that, maybe you're jealous that someone could possibly be doing better than you? Ah well, leave it out please.

Been really really tempted to make a 'Steve' Sax-p account and post informing Screwie that he has not got the job due to new found information regarding Screw's social 'hobbies' and the fact that his suit smelt of hash ;)
