So i've asked about a few specific cars this week but id now like to ask a general question.
My budget is around 4k and id like:
- Something 2001 onwards
- Less than 60,000 miles
- Well built
- Different - not your usual young persons car like a clio or corsa ect
- Preferably has extras such as leather interior
- Preferably a 1.6
no saxos no 106's

The money you could save could go to your insurance I guess that's why you'd prefer a 1.6?
Audi A3, golf, megane, 307 theres loads to choose from mate

exactly. I've had 4 saxos now.... that's enough.
Cars i have thought about:
Alfa 147
Alfa GTV
Ford Focus
Clio (i said i didnt want this type of car but if a nice one comes along... maybe)
Clio 172 FF.
luxury and nippy.

I just sold mine.. regretting it now.. but at average 20/23mpg and work location was getting ridiculous with the fuel cost. ;)

nah ~ theres plenty of better motors, just not many really better for 4k.
just like if someone said "Ive got 2,300 quid, I want a reasonable car."
Id reccommend a VTS all day long.

Puma? there a 1.7
DarylVTR

must be pritty good on fuel, i cant afford a fuel guzzler!
172 arnt bad, but the interior looks dated and its still a sort of boy racers car
Those Cit C2 GT's seem to be going for peanuts nowadays, saw a 2003 one on the trader, 28k miles, 2003, FSH going for £4400. Bit of haggling could eventually see you in a good one for about £4.2k.

id go for the 147 mate the 1.6 is fairly quick and they look class, not ment to be very reliable, guy i kow had one and bits were always breakin, nothin masive but still a kick in the balls like. ud have to look after it :p

Alfas are silly expensive on parts/servicing.
What about a nice mk4 astra? Can get some with leather and all the toys. Coupes are even in the 4k region. Maybe not a turbo but if speed aint what your after theres no worrys.
Cheap tax, parts and servicing. Easy to spanner.

TBH Lad a ford focus would be good, theyre faily nippy, come with loads of extras and you can part exhange a donkey and theyll pay you cash to take it ;)
Being a ford as well you know parts will be available and wont cost a bomb.
Other than that An old school mini FTW. pick up a very clean one for next to nothing and they just look the mutz nutz!

anyone else?
I just thought of a Seat Leon Cupra but im unsure
Ford Focus or maybe a nice MK4 Astra SXI?
Both of those can be picked up within your budget. I wouldn't get a 307, as with your budget you'll get a 51/02 plate and they ain't 100% reliable due to electrical issues.

Or the Leon quite alot bigger than a saxo though. yeah its a 1.8 and a 1996, but it will cheap as fck on the insurance. It will do about 30mpg, and still be pretty nippy. With the right wheels and body kit will look sexy as fck too.

or there is a 140 bhp new shape celica that you can probably pick up for 4kish, 1.8 but still low insurance.
