i know these annoy everyone tbh
but over the last few days they have been repeatedly ringing me and my mum asking for my dad who died last march
not only has this upset both me and my mum
but everytime we ask for a supervisor/manager to speak to about it they just hang up
they never give a company name to us either so we cant trace it back and complain

any ideas on a way to stop these calls?

The telephone preference service isn't 100%. The companies buy a database and thesse can be old.

Isn't a great thing to happen to you though man. Do they withhold the number?

i think there asian yea
i just want a way to try and get them to stop

its really upset my mum

it is a withheld number yea

this is a joke tbh,

best thing to do if you recognise the number, next time answer the phone

"battersea dogs home, rover speaking"

and persistantly ask them if they wish to rescue an animal, they may think youve changed your number ;)

Is a royal pain in the 4rse, my uncle used to get this with conservatories. one day he got so annoyed he went ahead with it, finally at the end of it all they asked for his home adress, to which he truth fully answered " Flat 4, Level 2, Kingsley house, Chelsea.

To which the caller slammed the phone down ;)

EDIT: On your phone settings if you have a a digital walk around jobbie, should be an option to not accept withheld numbers, you will just need to tell family and friends theat theyre numbers need to not be hidden ;)

TPs works, but if you ever fill a form out, even online and you dont tick the "i dont want my data sold like a cheap whore" box then data capture companys sell it for the higest bid! jst re register with TPS and b careful of what u fill in mate!

I used to work doing Telesales, it will be an old database.

Can only think that you give your phone provider a call.

What company is it?

Speak with the local press and get them to crucify them. PM me the details, I'll have a dig around with some contacts to see what I can do.

Yeh Call your provider.. see what they can do. If not have a mega go at the person on the other end and demand not to be called again and taken off there list.

If you can't get a company name, listen to the spiel, and get at least a company name. Is there any Caller ID - you may be able to do a reverse search on the phone number.

just get a phone that shows up the number of whos ringing, when it says unknown or out of area its usually these fuckers, so i just ignore. If someone in the fam or whatever wants you so much they will ring a mobile im sure.

Alex - Did you see that program on tele the other night called "The Complainers"
The guy who hosts that show did a case on cold calling, what he advised that people do is to actually seem interested, and waste as much of there time as possible, ask questions, repeat the questions over and over again like there name, where there from etc etc, ask them what there seling over and over again, you get the picture?? This 9 times out of 10 will stop them calling, and in the end the person on the phone will just hang up.. The guy did it on the show, was proper proper funny. The bloke who called him got so annoyed with him, he eventually just hung up. Try that and see what happens..

Did anyone else see the program??

Don't knodw if its already been said but if you call your phone provider then i think they can ban with held numbers from calling you. that should stop the majority of companies calling you :y:

Phone up your phone company and get your number put on the private directory that way they won't get your number

that sucks :(

maybe holding on for a bit may make them give out the name eventually, easier to block after id have thought.
