Try Stockport and Didsbury for accomodation. Stockport has loads of hotels. Didsbury (A34) has big travel lodge. All have easy motorway and major A road access to the city centre.

Manchester Didsbury - Travelodge
A34, Wilmslow Road, East Didsbury, Manchester, M20 5PG
0.6 miles from Didsbury, Gtr Manchester
