who has a fire extinguisher in their car?
- i think it would be worth while especially if your insurance doesnt cover your mods/installs.
look at this vid of some guy filmin a drive in his golf, obviously sees smoke, pulls over and car goes up in flames. gutted...
VIDEO (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=SRgtiFIRE)

i haven't but have been seriously looking into getting one. like you said - would be gutted if mine went up in flames. at least with an extinguisher (sp) in the car i'd stand a slight chance.

just dont drive like a dick and take care of your car..easy peasey lemon squeezy
i hav 1 tho...just incase smileys/smiley20.gif
Many people have fire extinguishers, but I wonder where people keep them. You need to put a fire out as early as possible before it grows, and if your extinguisher is buried somewhere in the boot if may be too late. My extinguisher is in easy reach for myself and my passengers.
The video shows how quickly things can get out of control, a warning to everyone.
I worry about what could have happened if that car had the door pins removed and the fire had burned through the central locking electronics...smileys/smiley3.gif
You should always have an escape plan. Ultimately a car can be replaced...

Wouldn't it be easier if you had some sort of system in the engine bay that you could set off and spray foam/water over the engine without you opening the bonnet! you could get a bit hurt if you open the bonnet with flames already going!!!!

I think i am going to get one! My mate used to have a renault 5 gt turbo and we were out giving it some, n e way we pulled into a pub car park so i could have another go and noticed smoke from the bonnet, we opened it up and yes the engine was on fire, but luckly we was in a pub so i ran in and got a jug of water and put it out! lucky we was in a pub really !

Id have to get out through the sunroof or summat.. Saying that actually, I can open my boot from the inside, so I now have my escape route planned... smileys/smiley4.gif

yeah but in reality how easy is it to get from from seat through to rear,
into the boot, open the boot and out!! Lets be realistic here!
Your options are kick the sunroof out or a window
SaxoAL
19th May 2005, 14:20
lol, spose so..
Ok, my only option is the sunroof then, as all windows have tints. and prob wont smash easily.. Oh dear !
barrett
19th May 2005, 14:26
do the saxo ones open fully or just tilt i cant remember?
Pretty sure they just tilt and on the back of the handle there is a red
'button'. Designed so that in an emergency you use your key to push it in
and unscrew it, then the sunroof pushed out and you can escape easily.
SaxoAL

they slide back aswell.
What if the car lands on its roof though.. hmmmmm
barrett
19th May 2005, 14:35
lol, rear 3/4 window?
prob the easiest on to get through, or if you have a fire extinguisher then
use that to smash through the tinted wiindows.
My friend from uni had a crash not long back in her corsa, rolled it and
she was able to unbuckle her seat belt, smash the window and escape.
Dont really think you would have a problem Al smileys/smiley17.gif
