As some of you may know I bought myself a new 50inch Samsung HD plasma tv on Friday.....Managed to get myself a Samsung home cinema system and new glass stand also.
Got it all set up but have one problem......How do I get the surround sound to work through ordinary TV as at the moment it only plays through DVD. Is there a special cable I need?
Just some pics.....quality aint too good as taken with phone....but you get the idea

Nah tried all the buttons......You need another cable or something so the Home cinema system is connected to Sky box or summit

Looks ace that mate,
As for the surround sound,
Get a white to red phono cable, and on the back of the TV is Audio Output, runn them from there into the back of the DVD player AUX or AUX in, then switch on TV switch to AUX, and then should all be hunky
but i am really liking the set-up!
sweet, same setup as me, tv is ace eh!
You need to connect the surround sound system directly to the tv with a red/white phono lead. You can use an optical cable aswell. Then on the surround sound press tv or whatever you plugged it into on the back and you'll get sound from the tv.

Spoke to a bloke in Currys on my lunch and he said I need to connect either an optical cable or an RCA cable from surround sound system to the sky box

yep thats right, can plug in an optical cable into the ps3 aswell. Or if you only want to use one cable, you can plug it directly into the tv and you'll get the sound from whatever signal is going into the tv.

How much you after carl? looking at selling the projector or just saving for a TV aswell low on cash atm though, what is it aswell, samsung one?
Adam, as i stated before, you can just use white and red phono/RCA cables, its easy enough i pointed most out in my other post.
You can use optical and im guessing that it will be better but not much noticable tbh!

You need to get an optical cable.
Normal RCA Phono cable wont give you full Surround sound. Will only give you Stereo. For surround sound you need to use an optical cable which sends Digital signal which will give you full surround sound from your TV (if channel supports) or your PS3.
If you do use a photo cable, each of your surround speakers will just send out the same signal.
Hope that helps

Nice that Cloud.....wanna get mine on the wall but gotta re-locate fish tank...which is a bitch.
Yeh got surround sound working now, gonna wait to football season starts again and invest in Sky HD.
Was I right to buy Gold plated cables and scart leads or did Currys man rape me?
James

I've always had the gold plated leads like so can't really say, can't see there being much difference though. How much extra were they?
AdamW
16th May 2008, 15:40
Fuck all extra....I just decided to go the full hog to look like a bigshot lol.
JohnPartridge

Gold Plated wont give any noticeable quality difference, but as it was fook all extra your ok. Gold plated connectors do generally last longer than standard though.
