if sayer talks to you we might be able to help but can't promise yet. I know Adam was shocked at some appauling work by a pro for a friend of his which is why he thought about us helping out friends to stop em getting ripped off

Agree. Seen some of the prices and don't understand how they can justify charging what they do. :fcuk:

Don't get me wrong, I won't mind paying the asking price as long as I know we are going to get lots of GOOD shots.

We payed for a photoshoot at a "Pro's" studio recently and out of over 300 shots there were only about 5-6 which we would buy! Money and time wasted imo

It's great honour my name sprung to mind, but I'd be nervous of letting you down mate.

Done some shots like that already and they were pretty good.

yes the industry is sadly filled with cowboys, especially when its a direct customer linked set up. Anyone can pass themselves off as a pro take money and run, why wedding photography is a cut throat business filled with many 'pros' whos work is not up to scratch, but people dont often realise this sadly. Dont get me started on studios - alot charge then want £50-75 per image on top! fuck that, alot of my friends have been ripped off, why im currently researching studio kit myself for a home based studio to do girls portfolios at university.

The price people do charge is astronomical dude, so be very careful with the work you choose.

I've done 4 weddings. Was proper papping myself the first one, but Wifey helps me now, so all is fine ;)
RYAN I have a studio kit here that I have hardly used - cost me £300 brand new, still in orignal packaging too :)

We have a venue which will be booked for the day and night do's

The packages we've looked at so far range from £800-£3600 depending on the number of shots/albums etc.

Ideally we'd want a traditional/macro type daytime photographer for the traditional and arty shots then a similarly arty one for the night do so we're looking at paying twice!

I am so much better at informal shots than the Hitler lined up arranged in alphabetical order pictures lol!

if you are doing wedding/night you should easily be able to get a reduced fee for both as they are allready on site if that makes sense.

easy to cover both in a day, just have charged batteriesssss and memory cards a plenty. Most also charge for reprints etc.. so one to be very careful of, easyest way is to find one who charges soley for the day, at a fee, and wont try charging £50 for a cd extra for example, as means you get all your images and no hidden charge, and also makes it easy to get photos to friends etc....

If you find a pair of photographers its also useful because one person can do the behind the scenes stuff whilst one does more of a formal shot, so you get multiple coverage and different shots.

I charged a flat "attendance fee" amd then print by print price and/or CD price too.

Our wedding photographer was £800 with 100 8x6 prints, then the cd was an extra £200 on top

That seems a very good price. I know it sounds a bit tight but we don't really want to pay more that £1000 for photos! The night do alone will be costing £3k!

Ryan - the problem we have is I'm not sure we want the same type of photographer for the day and night do's with them being so different

The daytime will mainly be outdoors shot (garden wedding) and the evening do is going to be a 70's themed fancy dress free for all so we were wanting something more like the shots you posted from Ministry

doesnt seem tight tbh, at the end of the day photography for the event shouldnt be covering 90% of your budget.

Espec now its digital photographers dont really have an excuse to overcharge as you are no longer paying for rolls of film upfront.

I took some pretty nifty shots at cracknells wedding. But i dont think i would ever want to be the sole photography just incase they dont turn out that good. Would have to have done LOADS to do it on my own and charge. Just like to take the odd snap here and there.

A photographer half worth his trade should have the lenses and the ability to mix the type of shot requested by the consumer. If you are charging alot of money you shouldnt be just any noob and understand how to set a camera up for each shot.

If you give a photographer a brief they should be able to stick to it. why i allways ask in advance for any work ive done in clubs etc.. what shots they want etc.. (this being one of the reasons i bought the fishye as it was requested)

He was the guy that did our wedding - was excellent, and very sensitive to the blindingly obvious trauma that I was suffering on our wedding day.

If you want a very strong, hair raising, meaningful, powerful song to play while you are signing the register, can I suggest this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4txqpyab1_8 - it had a few people from here (including me) a pile of tearful rubble during the service!

haha SoppyCracknell!

Our wedding is going to be slightly unconventional to the stage where the music for certain parts is going to be mixed by me!

Plan for 1st song is Chasing cars by Snow patrol which (at about 18% pitch increase) I can whack a dance beat over the 2nd half and mix out a few of our fave dance tunes! 180 in the mix tbh :p

My missus works for Photo-shield, a photography based insurer.

She was saying that if a photographer is hired to do a wedding and he/she does not produce the quality of pictures the client was promised then the photographer is liable to replicate the hole day and do the photos again at his expense. Apparently, the photographers that are not insured had to sell/re-mortgage their houses just to pay for another wedding.

Just something to bare in mind
