my mates sub / amp done this.. think it was using too much power from the battery and he had to get a heavy duty battery in the car

its probabies the amp going into protection mode mate
you can try uprating or adding a second battery
or if your gain is all the way up then turn it down

or by an amp capacitor! it stores power and when u need it most, it will supply it to the amp :D

erm nope power caps suck, didnt work for me and a lot of other people, imo there just a money making scam and uprating the battery worksch better :y:

THAjnks for the replies. n yes it goes into protect mode! after the headunit as shut itself off. its so anooying. ive got a halfords heavy duty battery. it never used to cut out. only recently it has started to do it when the music is really loud.
always get pos / neg coments on power caps. i had one and it messed my battery up lol. think it wasnt on properly.. if i get a 1.2 farad do you think it would do the job? ony be 20 quid?

Just uprate all your wiring I.e. the big 3 (0 gauge), main power lead to the amp (at least 4 gauge) and ground lead (at least 4 gauge).
Also, make sure the amp is set up correctly, and that it is running at a suitable load, i.e. 2 ohms.
What sub and amp have you got?

ahh yh i have zero ground and main. ivew got a loudest . com 3000watt amp. its running at 1ohms as its 1 ohm stable. the 2 subs i have a re alpine type r's 1242d mate. like i sai its never done this before since ive brought a maintenance free battery from halfords but recently its doing it. think i might need to buy a power cap???

NO!! Do not buy a power cap!! This will not solve your problem!
Get a multi meter and test the battery (should be 12v), then turn the engine on and test it again(should be 14.4v), then turn the amps on, turn it up till its just about to cut out, then measure the voltage of the battery again.
It could just be the crappy "loudest" gear that is letting you down.

yh could actaully do that mate. i think it might be the battery.i thought it was the headunit that might be messed up as it used to switch off. can you get an uprated battery that will replace the one in the engine rather then havong another one?
or is it alot of work to attach another battery. cheers for your help mate!

How many watts rms is the amp? Am i right in thinking it is 1000rms 3000 max?
If this is the case then a halfrauds battery just wont cut it mate.
For ultimate performance you want an optima deep cycle yellow top, or a red top starter battery.
You could run one of these either as the primary battery, or on a split charge relay and run your amps off it. But tbh, just a red top in place of the standard battery would do the job, and you can run everything of these. They are also very good for starting, and can be run totally flat and can be recharged no problems.
Im currently running 1.5kw rms off a standard bosch battery and it has never given up in 6 months of usage.
But im getting a yellow top soon.

yh its 1000rms and 3000 watts max. im guessing the battery has been hammered now :( still got 3 years warranty on it lol. if i buy a red / yellow top will the pos and neg cables fit str8 onto them or will i need adapters mate.
what bosch battery have you got?
ad saxo smithy i have got a zer o ground running from the amp.

The yellow top will probably have different sized battery clamps, but these can be bought for a few quid. Dont be put off by this minor problem. It is easily overcome.
Hundreds on ebay

Ive just got a bosch battery from a transit van! Lol So its twice the size of the standard one, and its more amp hours iirc.

Yes mate, all you need is new clamps, and tbh, you might not even need them.
You will have to buy the battery, measure the terminals, then buy the correct clamps.
