I'm considering buying this Saco as my first car: http://www.ianfarrellmotorcompany.co.uk/14962/stocklist.htm (It is the 6th car down).

What do you make of it? I've only ever driven cars with power steering- would I notice any big differences with this car not having it?

Any advice would be great! Thanks.

Oh, and I'm new here so please be gentle!;)

not to bad mate, would be better if it had colour coded bumpers but first car doesnt matter, low milliage at not a bad price go for it

Is it a big difference from PAS to none? How long will it take to adjust?

Naaa...not that bigger deal....i went from non PAS to PAS...and i found that when your standing PAS pays off...but when your moving non PAS is better...will take u a fews hours to adjust....

Not much of a difference, just take corners slower at the start until you get a feel for it. My first car didn't have power steering, and the one i learnt in did... took me barely a day to adjust.

60k mileage for that price is pretty decent, go give it a look over :y:

Can you still 'feed' the wheel through your hands, as taught by driving instructors?

Its a big difference at first but you soon get use to it... also strange going back, you over turn for a while lol!

Very true, also don't accelerate to quickly when turning at junctions, if you're not quick turning the wheel might end up in the other lane lol.

I still do that and i have power steering, i'm dangerous :n:

that pretty much the same as my car, i just pumped up the front tyres a bit more to make parking etc easier but tbh the car is so light you dont need power steering.
I think mines great, fast for a 1.1 compared to some of my mates car (like a corsa and fiesta)

Thats like the car i have..but mine is a W reg and its not a first..its an LX. I would go for it but if you want my car i'm selling it with 61,000 miles and everything standard.

u wont notice the difference to much at speed, but at low speeds or parkig and stuff is quite abit harder than PAS but u will soon get used to it

im learning wiv an instructor hu got power steering on his car but mine ent got it and i dont really find to much diference, just keep oversteering the power sterring occasionally lol

u only notice the lack of power steering at lower speeds on tight housing estates and stuff otherwise it feels pretty similar to power steering

well that wot i find anyway

Thanks guys.

I'm still a learner, and I'm planning on taking my test next month in my own car, which will hopefully be this Saxo. Would no PAS make the paralell parking harder? I'm pretty good at it in my instructors Fiesta with PAS...

depends how confident a driver you are i would say, if you feel confident in your ability you will be alright with out, where as some one less confident may end up in other lane and things

I took my test in my own car (Pug 106) which didn't have PAS, I found parallel parking hard at first because there is no specific method to use so you just have to relay your own judgment.
