i was wondering if anyone could tell me how much they pay for a vtr at 17
quinn quoted me 1681.92 and i got all excited, this was before i came on here and realised they stump you when you pass . so i went back and checked it with pass pluss and recceived a quote for not far off 4 grand

was woondering if there are any ways i could lower the quote i already have said

will be in locked garage (which it will be)
alramed and with tracker ( which would be fitted)
pass pluss

i have been on the road for coming up for 2 years on a mopedis there any companies that take this into account?

many thanks rob

Not many companys take into account peds unfortunatly, it should be lower than what your getting though, try ringing up companys see what they say, i got mine cheeper when i rang up rarther than online which they think is better.

will probs find it very hard to find many companies that will insure you for much less that 2 grand or maybe a bit more !!

gocompare.com / confused.com would be a good option to try, see who they can find for you !!

if you cant find an acceptable price, then as said ring around and explain the situation, some may give you a little bit off.. theres a big list of good insurers in the main thread :y:

its crazy reading these threads and seeing what you all have to pay for insurance, i got quoted £1050 fully comp at 17 for my vtr(with a speeding conviction from my bike) here and my mate has been quoted £1150 fully comp for a vts at 17

if you had got insured with carol nash for instance they build up a ncb which can be transferred onto your insurance when you get a car even with peds...

I am 18 with 2 convictions and 2 claims and its 1300 tpft i dont think that is too bad considering,,

i got a vtr, but since i started driving in october ive had 4 cars under the same policy and that was with quinn,

citroen ax 1.1i
2x vauxhall astra 1,6's
and now my saxo

the reason they qoated u so much is because uve gone for a big sized engine, you may get your insurance down if you say in a garage, but it all depends if your area has a high crime rate as they base it on theft, i pay 920 on my vtr and ive just turned 18!, other than that, i can only say go on someone else's insurance like your dad's and try use his no claims,

my cusin was lucky enough to use my uncles 5 years no claims, and he pays 700 on his vtr, insurance will always be high for a first time driver cos your more likely to crash

oh yeah, the only insurance company that will value your 2 years no claims on a bike, will be the company that insured you on a bike, as my mate had the same problem, he has to insure his car with the same company as his ped for them to value his NCD, or say your female and get a sex change lol :P

A mentioned, don't go on your dad's insurance. It's classed as fronting and if you crash the insurance company wont pay out if they click on to the fact your dad isnt in fact the main driver

technically if your dads the registerd owner and "main driver" on the policy, the insurance company cant do anything, they wont be able to prove your the main driver and not your dad

they look at the type of car it is "why are you the main driver of a saxo, aswell as your audi" and they have also been known to ask around the local area to see who actually drives the car :)

Nearly everyone I know of the age 17 is on there parents insurance. This does not make it more legal though i'd like to point it out.

I'm with CIS and they seem cheap on Saxos' (for some bizarre reason).

The feeling of passing your test and getting in your Saxo is second to none mind, i'll never forget the day..

damn! didnt know that

i was a named driver for a few weeks on this vtr.. untill an insrance company phoned me to say i could have it at only £200 extra (£800 total tpft on my own policy)

so i changed over to that :y:

my dad didnt own another car though,

and surely they cant judge you on what car you drive? what happens if someone just wants a car for cheapness to run, theres an oap on my road that has a 106gti
