As said in title i decided , im bored of my very quick 206, not the power but the cost of replacement parts,

I just got informed i have a hole in my rad which dog poo (sealent wont seal) i heard a clunk on the motorway
but didnt see any damage so just forgot about it, a week later i got my car serviced and bobs your uncle lol

anyway..

Pug quoted ; £300 fitted for the rad

The clutch has been going for a little while now but ive managed to get a further 6 months out of her but decided ive
had enough of it now and got a quote for a clutch, since traffic is a hardship!

£267 for clutch and £587 fitting from pug, (im in london so everything is exstortionate)

I need new front tires anywhere from 120 : 200 for new front tires and i still have to get a few bits done to make the bodywork perfect,

ive been searching around and no one can get hold of the parts for the 180 in london or they dont want the job to fit the clutch,

Ive been told its a very hard job on that car by 4 garages..

so...

Weighing it all up i decided i cannot be asked to spend all that on her and im going for a new car;

Corsa VXR;

I test drove one last night; and ive found i cant stop talking about it tbh, although at the moment i doubt its faster then
my 206 i doubt there is much in it and my car is remaped and had a few other goodies,

Absolutely love the car,it looks amazing and goes like the clappers :0

so , im going to chop her in for one, a nice red or blue one.

Im going for 7k on my car as im sure its worth at least 5k if i wanted private (obviously not selling private lol), new car
= potential, my friend is an ex salesman and he recons theyl have around 2k to play with in a car so i could very well play
the game and get it; and although my car needs a few bits they will be cheap to them for obvious reasons lol

Thing is the car is so damn expensive, i paid 9k march last year,

Its cost me around,


375 for exhaust sports (scorpion) before they became cheaper pug wanted 1k, shares hardly any parts with the Gti and jobs are harder
more time consuming which means more labour costs..

500 or service and needs one every 7k which obviously i dont do im not rich nor off my rocker!

Anyway , my car tax is set to go up to like £300 next year i heard threw the grapevine

plus by the time ive spend the money on the car in london getting it all done ect, its going to cost around,

£1500 to have perfect so its just not worth it to me when i can up my monthly payments by £48 and get a brand new 08
plate with warranty lol

plus it drove pretty well for a 1.6 turbo in 6th gear was amazingly responcive!

But.... how much is the servicing on the xvr? It doesn't have a proven history yet so could be amazingly un-reliable. You never know. I have seen a picture of one on the back of a tow truck.

Dan you get good and bad in all cars, ive seen an aston martin on the hard sholder with hazards and a recovery truck as well as a van that said aston martin on it lol:P

Test drove one i cant be asked to thrash a car to get it to go, plus its 2.0 , 2.0 = no go as of next year tax is set to go upppp

plus its an insurance grp lower than my 180 unsure on the clio, also looked at 207 gti and mini cooper s, tbh i dont want french again,

I will have had 3 blue cars if i do lol,

VTR posi blue, 180 Agean blue then a VXR in Arden .. might start to look abit suspect soon lol

Jamie what you had done to the 180 then? Reason i ask is i left one for dead the other day on a few twisties, it snot something id normally do but he got right up my arse when i was crusing at 60, so gave it some, few miles down the road when we got to around about it was a 180 thought it was only a 1.4 the way he disapeared

never been in a vxr, dont really appeal to me, but then not many do, id never spend that much on a car but thats just me

Remaped, Simota filter system, Scorpion, lowered, and have upperstrut

Could have been a badged up car, like a normal gti with a 180 badge and exhaust its not uncommon for it to be done nowdays,

lol Not that im some street racer but when i first got it before i modded it i did try most cars that were quick,

never had a problem with an S myself lol, still have love for them though.

At the moment with the mods i have i can be side by side or beat type Rs (meant to be quick) lol

I have test driven a VXR and it was amazig it pulled really well in all gears! It was extremely comfy i thought although i found the steering a little light. Probably as im used to non power steering.
Go for it mate i think it looks stunning!

it made a huge difference, i was very suprised. I dont have to thrash it as much to get it going and the torque difference is amazing! put it this way the
corsa will be remapped ;)

Maybe the guy just couldnt drive lol, mind you the vts isnt exactly a slow car so if the 206 was std your handling would be able to get you ahead quite abit in twistys,
unfortunatly thats one thing i hated about my 206 at first, it felt like a boat and i didnt feel confident to throw it in to corners, lowering soon sorted that though lol

Driven a VXR too, very quick but fuel would kill me!

I'll admit Peugeot are VERY expensive cars to keep, I have had the flywheel and clutch repaired on mine under warranty, would of cost £1000.

As for tyres, I have just purchased this tyre

It's a MA Z1 205/50 ZR17 93W RFD (Maxxis). I have a 307 with same alloys as yourself, these are £66 from my tyres. They are top of the budget range, but very gripy and just as good as Goodyear to be honest.

depends if you have a heavy right foot, ive got 290 odd from a tank before (back in the day when 42£ was a full tank)

The other thing that got mentioned earlier was tyres:

Had to replace mine, cheapest i could come across was 110£ a corner. However they looked ghey and didnt match the rear tyres so i ended up paying £164 a corner for the same brand i had :wacko:

tyre size: 225/35/r18 Rated to 160mph.

Would love to get my corsa mapped but i cant justify spending £650 on software to take it from 192 - 235bhp
