so a football hits my car last night and leaves a big mark
it looks like its been hit with a scouring pad
like a ghosty white scuff rather than a scratch seems to be quite deep
area about the size of my little finger
was thinking of a few waxes but a few people at work have reccommended using autoglym resin polish to buff it out
was thinking of using a touch up pen or something
what would you reccommend to get it looking good again

Touch up pens are pretty hard to get blended in......I've tried many times, always looks bollocks...

I had a football hit just above driver's door, in between the top of the door and the sunroof.
I couldn't believe the mess it's made on the paint work, it does look like a scouring pad or somethings 'ad a go, totally agree mate. Not hugely obvious unless you're standing next to the car.

that was what i was thinking
would a few cleans a polish or two and then a good waxing be the ideal solution?

How deep is it? if you gently brush your nail across it does it catch on it? if it does you won't be able to get it out without bodyshop work...
If it doesn't you should be able to remove it/mask it... Super resin compound wont really remove it.. especially by hand.. but it contains some filling compound which will mask the scuff until you next wash it...
You would need to work the area with a cutting compound in order to remove it completely, but doing this by hand is very hard work, and doesn't always get you results... You would more than likely need to buzz over it with an orbital polisher and cutting pad/compound in order to remove the surface defect...
Hope that helps..

I haven't yet :n:
it sounds like the laqure has been scuffed, a good polish should get it out, polish it, t cut it then polish again, shud look as good as new, will need some elbow grease though!

Our freelander got hit with a ball too!! The car is dark green so its mega noticable. We've tried everything from SafeCut, Super resin polish and even Green polish with the touch up pen but its still there!!

I have had this a few times on my car. Need my panels resprayed, live in a cul-de-sac and there are so many little kids playing football round my area. The balls literally are bouncing off all the cars. :panic:
It is the grit that is stuck to the ball, then when it swipes the car the grit causes pretty bad scratches to the paintwork. :n:
