central locking itself works fine but the remote fob hasn't worked since i got the car. so just have to use the key all the time...
previous owner says it was working fine then out of the blue it just stopped working completely
i've tried a new battery with no luck. tried unlocking it with the key then pressing the button twice. didn't work
went to an auto electrician the other day who tested the fob and says it is transmitting a signal. doesn't mean to say it's the correct signal though
i've got it booked in with them for a diagnostic in the morning (£45) and he says they'll try to recode the fob aswell if that's the problem
just thought i best make a post on here first though. don't want to be doing the wrong thing and throwing money away! so would appreciate any info or input
cheers, chris :y:
Ive got a question on a similar thing, didnt want to start a new thread :)
I have the reciever for the remote locking in my car, but no cover, so basically its a cirecuit block with 3 black plastic prongs sticking out of it, is this the whole reciever unit or am I missing something here? Car didnt come with a fob for it either, is it possible for me to get a second hand fob and program it to my car using the 'unlock car then press twice' method?
Failing that, a previous owner installed a Moss car alarm system, is it possible to wire up the alarm so turning it on would automatically lock/unlock the doors as well?
Thx, Lawz

sorry to dig up an old thread but i still haven't had my rcl fixed! want it sorted asap
thinking it must be either the fob transmitting incorrect signal, or the receiver has stopped working. which is more likely and what should i do first?
thanks, chris :)

I would personally replace the reciever near the interior light first of all but try and get one with the correct fob otherwise you will need to get the fob reprogrammed. The reciever units are known for being unreliable so the chances are that's why it just stopped working.

i have been told that to re-program 2 button fobs on 99> saxo's is just a case of:
1. Unlock the car using the Key.
2. Press the LOCK button 2 times within 20 seconds of unlocking the car.
Now I haven't tried this but let me know if it works

Cheapest way would be a Keyless upgrade
let me know if you want one

I've a quick question on this subject,
I require a key fob for my already programmed remote central locking unit.
However, I need to discover if the system in place is a "Valeo" or "Kierkert" and I'm not sure how to do this. I've been told yo check the transmitter receiver but I don't know what to check for?
Please could someone advise.
Thanks.

Hi,
dunno if you still need to find this out but if you take the receiver off on the roof of the MK 1 saxo, it says the type there, for example mine is a valeo.

Should a 2002 vtr have remote central locking?
