Hi guys,
This is for a civic not saxo (bigger car)
thinking of painting my calipers tonight... gonna do 2 wheels at a time.. if i use the standard jack to jack the front up then gonna use a big hydrolic type 1 for the back. and takes both wheels off then paint both calipers and leave it to dry... anyone think that will be unsafe?
i'm thinking it'll be alright tbh but just thought i'd check..
oh and also would you wait for it to dry before putting the wheels back on (as in theory your wheels dont touch them so it should be ok to put the wheels straight back on... right?) (obvisously not driving it until it's dry tho lol)
in that case i could do 1 wheel at a time

Jonny, I'd just just do a wheel at a time... if you do more coats but much thinner, they'll dry quicker anyway. not that it matters just apply the last coat and carefully whack the wheel back on

I hope you didnt suggest lifting the whole car off the ground using 2 jacks?
If you want to do 1 side at a time you can use a jacking point just behind the front wheels, the weight of the engine will make the whole side of the car raise up when you jack it up. Dont ever use the little windup jack for working on the car, save it for when you need it at the roadside somewhere!
You can put the wheels bak on while they dry too. Take your time with these though, when your paining things patience is the key!

i dont need to drive it until tomorrow night so it doesnt matter how long it takes to dry... (i will need to put it back on my drive later tonight tho but not exactly driving it) but i dont want it to take me all night as i'm gonna be busy later on... so if i can do 1 wheel at a time and put the wheel straight back on then it shouldnt take me too long

Although you'd be better using the hydraulic for the front and the standard one to steady the rear.
Glad you werent going for a 4 wheel effort lol.
