Hey guys, well after crashing my saxo (im 18 btw) im looking to TRY and get some cheap insurance.... not easy!!

The best quote i have had so far was from bell at a price of £1770 TPFT which i didnt think was to bad considering!

But i done the quote as my Mam the OWNER of the car and as the registerd keeper, BUT me as the policy holder for the insurance and the main driver, with my Mam as a named driver.

Would this be fronting so to speak?

As surly it is not illegal for person #1 to own a car and person #2 be the insurer and main driver of the vehicle??

Any help would be great :)

I think its ok to do that, cos like you said you'll be down as being the main driver....

It wont be legititmate mate. You can only have your own policy if your the registered owner of the car. It might go through, but if you crashed they would see the problem and not pay out

How cant you do that tho?

i meen what if someone in your family had a car etc but didnt want to make it look like it had another keeper etc, surely if your the policy holder and the main driver things are ok.....

... as i thought fronting was like being a named driver but actually being the main driver but keeping it hush.....

Strange:wacko::wacko:

the owner of the car does not to be the policy holder.

Think how company cars work

also Hire cars

i think it is fronting..

registed owner has to be main driver

company cars are different

registered owner doesnt have to be main driver anymore... because of things like young ens nans lettin em use the car, and beause there old, they think walking everywhere helps em, but they still want the car

said it your self.. making something look different to what it actually is will void your insurance

i thought that was the case, but legislation changed?

By that i ment adding another keeper to the V5 document for when it comes to selling the car on etc lol

I honestly cant see the problem, i meen what if my mum bought me a car but wanted it in her name incase i was a little S**T and she wanted to take the car off me, yet i fully insured it, how cold they say no really??

Its nto fronting cos im not claiming to own the car, and im not claiming to be a named driver yet use the car all the time, frankly its telling the truth, how can that be fronting!!

Totaly confused on this one....

...Should i just ring an insurance company and ask???

smiith

it used to be the case, where they thought you might be insuring your mates car or something, but its like, say your dad was in hospital, that would make you the main driver of his car to stop it been frontingg....

All you need to tell the insurance company is its your mums car, but she doesnt use it much, so you are the main driver, as you use it for work and shiz

because we can have a 10 minute arguement, in the time it takes to get off hold and talkin to someone :P

lol fair point.. and gives us something to talk about instead of doing nothing

allthough i guess phoning the insurance company would give the best outcome lol

Perfectly LEGAL!

Just spoke to bell insurance who said i can do that and it is only fronting if i had my mum as the main driver and myself as a named driver when i was really the main driver lol

also you can not take out 2 policys on the same car but i can have me as the policy holder and main driver and my mum as the named driver while she stil stays the registerd keeper :) :)

TOLD YAS...

Ner Ner lol

Well i actually got a quote off bell for 1770 TPFT Thats also with a ZERO excess which considering my age (18) and that ive just ahd a crash etc is good enough for me!!! my mam aint so sure on the diea, but she gets no claims and never has to drive the car, so everyone is a winner really lol !!!

Think im going ot go ahead with this, i have not mentioned my pass plus yet and the advanced driving corse im going to be sitting etc

Oh well, MAYBE some people will look at this and realise fronting can be avoided if you do things properly :y:

[QUOTE=Saxo_89;2186991]Well i actually got a quote off bell for 1770 TPFT Thats also with a ZERO excess which considering my age (18)QUOTE]

i dont understand that?

excess is what you have to pay on damage to your own car

tpft means the insurance doesnt cover your car, therefore there would be no need for excess

Spanky

Oh yea, sorry ive had a dum moment!!!

Altho cudnt an excess not count towards the car being burnt out and theft of the car if there was a payout???

I want BenSaxo to reasd this thread again as he did say "you can NOT do it" and that it would void the insurance!

I love prooving ppl wrong lol

dont think it is because your parents could buy the car and say it is theirs and they bought it to allow you and say any other siblings to learn in (effectively a learner car) so they could own it aslong as you are the main driver on the insurance its fine.
didnt make my insurance any cheaper though when i put my parents as owners of the vehicle on confused.com
