Pets VS Kids

Are Pets becoming to much like kids in peoples eyes? Today I was stumbled upon this pet personality test (http://www.cats-tell.com/index.php/personality) I was shocked by some of the questions, even the fact that someone took the time to make this dumb test. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a pet person, I have a dog but I don't see him as a son or anything, just as a friend. I think people are now starting to replace having kids with just average day pets... what do you think?
