running lumpy and cutting out, but is it the exhaust

well my VTS is running lumpy and cutting out, but is it the exhaust.
The reason i ask is that my mate who sold me the car said it ran like this and used to cut out all the time when he bought it until he fitted a magnex exhaust system to it and it was perfect. Now i have read loads of threads stating its the idle control valve, ignition coil pack etc but i dont believe this is the problem. i have cleaned the icv today and it didnt make a difference and if it was the coil pack it would run like it was on three so is it something to do with the exhaust system.

anyone with similar offers or their advice is welcome.

I would of thought this would be the same problem with the magnex system though as the lambda sensor would not of changed.

BD just thought i would point out incase you didnt know your full address is in your locations details to the left mate and i wouldnt want those who use forums just to check out motors to know where i live.
