can anyone give me the right clearences for the inlet and outlet tappets on the 98bhp 3 plug ecu'd roller rocker engine please

inlet 0.20mm

zorst 0.40mm

yeah since i fitted the 266cam its been a bit noisier so im guessing they need a bit of adjustment now

ok here we go.

13mm spanner flat head screw driver,feeler gauges.

valve open fully ------- valves adjust
no1 exh ------- no3 inlet and no4 exh
no3 exh ------- no4 inlet and no2 exh
no4 exh ------- no2 inlet and no1 exh
no2 exh ------- no1 inlet and no3 exh

Make sure the engine is cold - leave it overnight before attempting. :)

To open the various valves, remove the coil pack and spark plugs, jack the front of the car up and pop it in 3rd gear. Then simply turn a front wheel until the right valve is open. If memory serves me right, cylinder 1 is at the transmission side of the engine.

When I took it to garage, I got told they were hydraulic.

Yeah, vtr's have adjustable valve clearances which will quieten down the tapping noise. vts's have hydraulic lifters, no adjustments are possible with them.
