Think i got too much pressure building up!?

Got back from work last night at about 6:15pm. then at 9:00pm decided to check engine bay coz had a long drive planned today... so checked the oil which was fine and then and was gonna check the water but the radiator cap was proper stuck on! I had a squeeze of the pipes running into the top and out the bottom of radiator and they felt quite tight! Had another go at unscrewing radiator cap but was impossible. Is there normally alot of pressure building up in water system? and should it have reduced after 2 and a half hours being sat still?

i would bleed the coolant system mate,pressure building up could be a head gasket

Have you removed the cap before?
Could just be stuck!

The heat expands it and the water seals it, so the only option really is to give it some welly or if you've got an oil filter remover that would work by gripping the cap!

lol... yeah ive opened the cap before... but this time it was unusually tight! but if pressure is good and its ok still to be pressurised 2 and half hours later then coolio!

note: replaced head gasket earlier this year!
