View Full Version : do some cats have holes in the bog body bit? (didnt know where to put thread sorry)

im a bit thick but as far as i have worked out from back to fron you have back box centre section exhaust then it conects to the cat converter but all pics i found of cat look like a thick tube ish body mine has a holey outer shell if you get what i mean? whats different?

or is the cat the middle section box thing? and im talking bout another part its at very front of engine at bottom exhaust conects onto it

the 'holey' bit is normally just the heatshield,its whats underneath that counts.;)

some cats dont use them,its just whatever the manufacture went with,wouldnt worry about it TBH.

your getting mixed up with silencers and the cat lol

the silencers are just plain looking boxes,the cat in my experience has never been further back than the middle of the car!

ok what mk is your saxo?
if a mk1 itl be under the car,mid pipe,
if its a mk2 itl be in the manifold on the downpip,and it quite big and squarish.

right my exhaust has been taken off to replace rubbers and where it reaches engine and two oal things or triangle cant remember now wheer they meet whats that part must have heat shield on it yes think its conected to manifold

As said! The heat shield for the cat is the holey thing this would be at the base of the downpipe as I'm guessing you've got a mk1 saxo, then halfway along the car would be the centre section, and of course at the rear the backbox.:y:

justreally wanna know if thats defo the cat where ther exhaust meets the engine in between exhaust and manifild?
