Condensation can be a problem as it doesn't allow your carpet/seats to dry fully the best way to sure this is either leave the car running with the heaters on full or just open the whole car up and vent it out, preferably on a hot day! once you've done this you need one smelly tree and it's sorted!

Also can be worth cleaning the vents where the car sucks in air for the heater! Can get crap stuck there!
And flush out the windscreen washer water as that can go moldy!

change the air filters
then cleck the pipes that run the air to the vents.
check heater matrix
check under the carpets, really easy to lif them, pull off door seals, pull off metal clips and have a feel of the sound deadening to see if its damp.
Also make sure you allow the carpets to dry fully, leave the engine running with the blowers on hot for ages, clean your car or something whilst you do it.

Mate take your rear wheels off and look to see if theres a hole coming on the inside of your arch, if there is then water is going through the hole into your boot and this is making the boot carpets wet...........then it drys and then you get the nasty damp smell

Got the same problem with mine.

best thing to do then is get all the carpet and sound deadening out and hang it over something in the nice sun to dry out completely!

Then in the mean team get someone to be inside the car and someone outside and run the hose over it to see where the water is leaking in from, then fixed each of the problems you find.
